New Character Traveler?

First there was darkness as the VRMMO Gale Online was booted up. A rush of light then enveloped our protagonist Creed, an average male with average tastes and average physique.

Gale Online was a game that had been out for nearly two decades, it's expansive quests and over arching storyline was the height of the world of gaming at the time. It's playerbase was the envy of the Market boasting roughly A million to two million players a day in the height of it's prime. That large number was mostly due to the fact that the world had impactful choice progression. Meaning if you killed an NPC there would be no respawning. There was only one of each boss, the same restriction as NPC's. Nowadays the number had dwindled to a measly 6,000- 7,000 per day.

This rapid decline was mostly due to almost all of the quest givers were immediately killed by the Murder Hobos that sought to satiate their need for carnage.

But Creed payed no attention to this, For he was new to the game. Having made the foolish decision to play when the people had declined enough so he could game in peace without the threat of being PK'd.

"I wonder what I'll choose and what attributes I'll allocate my points to," he said to himself as the colors disaappated around him.

"Hello, young sir, I am Tor, your guide into this fantastical world of Sword and magic-"

Creed payed no attention to the man giving him instructions on how to move. He has played many VRMMO's in his time of gaming, and a few games from the relics of the world. With his experience He knew this would be a one time thing and then he would see No more of our friend Tor.

After about two minutes of walking around and picking items up he was given the option to design his Character.

[Character Design Enabled]

The notification popped up in his field of vision.

'Shit. the notification is archaic compared to the one's of this age. This is going to be problematic if this happens during a battle'

The newer games didn't have this type of notification anymore. As you guess, many people would abuse this system during fights by rapidly spamming Friend requests. it was rather annoying. The Dev's added the Notification Options to the settings when they first caught wind of this. It was an obvious oversight by developers, but in almost every game, a person will abuse everything at their disposal.

"System Options" Creed said, with a voice that sounds like it has the beginnings of a migraine.

[System Options]

- Player info

- Settings

- Inventory

- Status

- Respawn

- Respawn world

Creed didn't notice the last options for his eyes were closed during this mundane process.

"Settings"

"Notification options"

"Opacity 10"

Creed then moved his finger over of the Notification window and moved it to the lower left hand side of his vision, and also reduced the size of it to about the height and length of his player info in his bottom right vision.

"Close System Options!" Creed exclaimed, whilst massaging his temples.

'Now that that's out of the way, let's move on with my character design'

In this game your character started as the real body personification of himself.

The Developers made sure that your starting profile was wiped from the systems memory after your characters full creation, so that not one person could discern your true identity.

As you can imagine the character

design was rather basic.

He toned his muscles and lengthened his already short hair to the tops of his shoulders adding a few braids to both sides of his temples. He added to his height a couple inches, and changed the color of his of his hair for brown to greyish white.

Creed knew what he wanted to be beforehand and designed his character to fit that profile.

he changed his eye color from dark brown to a light gold.

making a few minor adjustments, changing his facial structure. He was then ready to create his name.

"Finish Character Design"

a prompt opened up to the center of his vision

[Name:__________]

" Wandering Adventurer"

[That name has already been taken

Name:___________]

'And now it begins' Creed thought massaging his temples yet again.

He didn't want to be another Dark Sword

or Bloody War, he actually didn't want to stand out at all. Of course for a game like this most of the names had already been taken.

"Adequate Adventurer"

[That name has already been taken

Name:___________]

This actually went on for a sizeable amount of time before he gave up on his ideals to be unnoticeable.

He started listing off every name he could think of before he had a stupid idea.

'Fuck it'

"Tor, the long lost friend"

[Would you like to confirm your name?]

"No" Creed said thinking fast about how he could abuse the hell out of this.

"Back to Character Design"

He quickly changed all of the physical characteristic to that of the guide that was standing smiling at him. He seemed to be an aging 40 year old man with the same hair as Creed's previous design. He had bulging muscles, and a medium sized beard reaching half down his short neck. He also wore rough spun brown tunic with a few pockets here and there, and grey pants that had a few patches amongst them.

A few tribal tattoos were amongst his arms and his eyes were Blueish Grey.

He also seems to be shorter than Creed's previous character by about a half a foot.

After Creed finished his design to match our friendly guide to the last detail, until Creed was satisfied, he also asked Tor a couple questions while changing a voice prompt to match that of the Guide.

'how has no one thought of this. Maybe everyone just wanted to finish this stupid creation'

His thoughts rang true in the respect of the game. Only a few handful of trolls had decided to make a Tor look-a-like to kill unsuspecting new players at the start of the game. But those players have long left the game, and deleted their accounts in search of newer games to troll. This wasn't Creed's purpose for this however. He wanted to be unnoticeable.
