Before death

They went back to sleep while I just looked out across the field. Lupo was lying next to me, I was petting him while waiting for the day to come.

Nothing more happened that night. All I saw was the wyvern eating more Krisha.

Allaster sat next to me after sleeping a little.

"Is Dee back now?"

"No, haven't heard from him since awaking from the slumber, just like how I didn't enter the soul realm while evolving, something is going on but since I have no idea what, there's no reason the fret."

I got lost in thought after a while.

"What are you thinking about?"

Whilst petting him, I started explaining.

"You know, in my previous life my every action was preordained by my parents. I had no choice in who my friends were, what I would study, hell, I couldn't even choose what I would wear.

My parents owned a massive company and as their first child, I was the one who would inherit the company.

At first, I hated it, I had no freedom whatsoever. Then, my little sister was born, a little ball of joy that I loved no matter what.

I made my parents promise not to push this lifestyle on her, in exchange, I would stop struggling, I would put my all into being the perfect girl.

When I had to go to university I was send to the most prestigious of the entire colonized solar system.

I got three PhDs, one in Economics, one in Biochemistry and one in Literature, I was taking those classes at the same time and finished cum laude for all of them.

Then, my little brother was born, another ball of joy. He never got to know our mother because she died shortly after.

He was pushed into the lifestyle. My dad said that we needed a man as to make sure all of our clients would stay.

He himself hated the idea but the board told him that if he wanted one of his children to succeed him, it would be his son.

I was angry for a long time, I went to a conservatory and learned to play as many instruments as I could.

Afterwards, I didn't really know what to do, the music had been something I'd dreamed of since I was a child but now that I could play them, I just didn't know where to go.

My life had been laid out for me, I had never had to make a choice in my own. One of my friends from the conservatory asked me if I wanted to go camping. I loved the trip, although the ending was, less pleasant.

Turns out my 'friend' was a serious sex offender and he raped me. I went to therapy afterwards, afraid of ever going outside again.

That's when my therapist suggested I faced my fears, went out on my own, explore Atlantis, the moon, hell maybe even the uncolonized parts if Mars.

I did and I fell in love with it. then I died, was brought here and thought that this life could be different.

I would be able to live without having choices made for me. And then I got pushed into this, no choice.

The worst part is that the system pushes emotions on me. It took away my trauma, The only way it allows you to feel anger is through a god damn skill.

So, I will break free from this thing, I will destroy it inside me and hope that I can lead a happy life here after."

Allaster looked at me like he hadn't understood most of it, which made sense. I had told him about my otherworldly soul but I had never explained what this other world was like.

My time her had been good. I had lived in peace for a little over two years and now I my life was being repeated all over again.

-------

Diana walked away from the tree she was hiding behind. She had woken up and seen Allaster go to me.

Out of curiosity, she had followed him. I had forgotten to turn off the share effect of Soul Translation. It allowed others to also understand what people were saying.

She had overheard the entire conversation and felt a bit guilty for listening in.

The only thing that had kept her from running away was the fact that She realized I was a traveler.

She had always wondered about them and on the rare occasions that she had seen them they had always had a stick up their arse.

The idea of other worlds just fascinated her. It made her wonder what else was out there.

She woke up Aella. "Mom, what would you say if I told you I was acquainted with a traveler?"

"I'd say you're full of shit, sorry darling but travelers are just extremely rare. The idea that you would actually be on normal terms with one is ridiculous."

"That's mean mom."

"Well, I'm just saying that it seems highly unlikely."

"But I overheard Liz talking about her life in another world!"

I was walking back to the fire. I was angry at Diana for that but I decided to keep quiet for now.

"That's ... not impossible actually. I mean, she fits the bill, a race that hasn't been seen for millenia, the power to take down one with dragon blood at tier two, even if that dragon itself is tier two is still impressive and the fact that she seems heavily involved with at least two gods.

It wouldn't surprise me but that doesn't mean you had the right to listen in on her. She wasn't talking to you about it so you had no right to listen in on her. You will apoligize to her tomorrow."

That's when I exited the bushes. "You could also just do it now."

The girl was at the brink of crying mostly because she understood that what she had done was wrong.

"I'm sorry, it's just, I've always wanted to know what other worlds are like so when I heard you all but confirm it I couldn't help myself."

"I understand what you mean. If people were to tell me that they had come from this world I'd probably call them crazy but still want to hear their stories. In my world, it also isn't possible, at least I don't think so. All the gods are dead there so unless there's another way, I think it's a one-way door."

Afterwards, I put the girl to bed and waited until morning.
