CHAPTER T W O

Even though Rory was scared she still decided to ask the scary man.

"Sir, can you help me find my way?" Rory showed her infamous puppy eyes which made the other person melt.

The black-haired man knelt to her height looking quite shocked at first. She looked exactly like the woman he loved. He knew it was his daughter but didn't say anything.

He continued to stare at her without saying a word.

"Uhmm can you help me?" Rory tilted her head.

"What's your name?" The king asked her instead.

"Mary calls me Rory and so does Emma and Olivia and.." Rory continued to name all of the maids.

"I asked you a simple question" The king responded with a serious tone.

"Uhm I'm Rory, what's your name?" Rory smiled even though she was quite afraid of the man in front of her.

"Do you know who I am?" The king asked her.

"No, I don't sir" Rory looked at him.

So they haven't told her about me huh? the king thought to himself.

Rory decided it would be useless to continue talking to the man in front of her so she tuck the other man's long robe asking him to kneel to her height.

"Uhm excuse me sir can you help me?" Rory looked at the other man.

"Oh yeah of course, where do you want to go?" The other man was a lot nicer than the king.

"Home thanks" Rory smiled.

The other guy looked at the king waiting for him to say something.

"take her to my office" The king looked at the princess.

The blonde-haired man was in shock. Did the king just tell him to take the princess to his office?! And yes he knew that she was the princess. The blonde-haired man was Valdemar's best friend since they were little, in fact, anyone could guess that she was the princess because of her eyes.

"Are you sure?" The blonde man asked the king again.

"Stop asking and do what I told you to do" The king frowned.

"Yessir," The blonde man replied.

"Where are we going" Rory tucked the blonde man's robe once again.

"Come here princess I'll take you to the castle" The blonde man lifted the princess and walked towards the huge castle.

"My name is Augustus, but you can call me whatever you want" The blonde man replied.

"Can I call you Augy?" Rory smiled.

"Yes of course you can!" Augustus was getting more and more attached to the princess. He was in fact her godfather and had met her instead of the king.

Augustus and Rory headed over to the castle and everyone was shocked to see the princess. They didn't even know who she was but looking at her eyes they could tell she had royal blood in her.

Augustus took the Princess to the king's office while ordering the maids to prepare some cupcakes for the princess.

But the king was nowhere to be seen. he had walked his way to the lake where he had proposed to Victoria. He couldn't cry because he had taught himself to destroy his emotions, but his heart was breaking into pieces. How could that little human look so much like her? He thought to himself.

The king continued to suffer once again. He held his heart tight to stop the aching, but it didn't work. He was still so much in love with Victoria that the smallest thing triggered him.

Even though he hated the little princess since she was born, he couldn't stop himself from wanting to know her. She was the last thing lady Victoria had left him before she vanished.

He told himself to man up instead of lying on the ground, but he couldn't - his legs were betraying him refusing to stand up. How could a woman make him crumble in pieces? How could a little child make him crumble in pieces?

He continued to sit on the ground, he wasn't afraid of anyone seeing him like this because the lake was off limited to everyone. Not even Augustus could come here. It used to be his and Victoria's special place they would visit whenever they wanted to be completely alone.

The lake meant a lot to him, after all, it was here where almost every memory was created between the two.

It was the first time in four years that the king had felt this pain again. The last time was when he buried his wife.

"Please Victoria, stop torturing me" The king begged his late wife.

"I can't do this anymore, why must you do this to me" The king continued to beg.

After a bit of time, he decided it would be best to keep the princess near him. She was after all his daughter, and now that he saw her he couldn't stop thinking about her. He was right when the princess was born he refused to see her because he knew he would get attached to her, and suffer even more.

He hated the thought of the princess being a girl. That was humiliating, but she looked so much like Victoria that he just couldn't hate the princess.

So he did what he refused to do when she was born. He wanted to take care of her, but something inside him told him not to. he would let his guards down once again, and in the end, it would only hurt no one but him.

He couldn't afford to let his guards down, not when he was known to be the heartless king. It would be more humiliating to let others see him smile once again.

But he knew that he would suffer even more now that he saw his princess for the first time.

She could just live in the castle with me, it would make sense since she's a princess he thought to himself. Trying to deny the fact that he wanted her to live with him because he still loved Victoria and, and Rory to look like Victoria was a good replacement.
