It was late when Aiden finally crawled into her bed. Gage had let him in the front door and gone back to sleep on her couch. Katie rolled over and curled her body around Aiden's and snuggled into his chest. "I missed you, Princess." He murmured, kissing her forehead. "So much."

"I missed you too." She whispered. "Please don't shut me out like that again."

He wrapped her tight in his arms. "I won't. I promise."

When she woke up the next morning, Aiden had already left for work but, like before a text was waiting on her phone.

AIDEN: Good morning, Princess. That was the best sleep I've had since this mess began. I'm heading in early to see if I can avert some of the damage Meghan and her brother caused. I have something I want to talk to you about when I get home regardless of what happens at work today though. Love you.
