"I don't want your stepsister to come tomorrow night. Ewww that chick…" Kimberly grumbled inside Cassandra's room.

In response to Kim's incessant cursing, Cassandra let out a frustrated sigh. She moves her mascara wand to thicken and lengthen her lashes. On the bed, Kim and Shane each lay down. The cold air in Granite Falls made the two vampires more likely to spend their time lazing around like a grumpy cats.

"I don't want to take Laura to the Royal Building either." Turning around, Cassandra glanced at her two friends. "I might throw up all night."

"Wondered, why is your mother still keeping that demon vampire here?" Shane rolled her eyes. She pulled herself up, sitting cross-legged on Cassandra's bed. Her long straight hair this time was given a ribbon headband. Among the three vampire girls, Shane was indeed more concerned about her appearance. Dress up like a Barbie doll and act feminine.

Shane's question made Cassandra freeze in place. Of course, she wouldn't be stupid enough to divulge her family's secrets and plans, even to the two vampire girls who had been her longtime friends in Granite Falls since The Victors' move into town.

"Who knows." Cassandra turned around again, looked at her face in the mirror, and continued to polish her face. "Sometimes my mom is really annoying."

Both Shane and Kim just shrugged and chose not to reply. They lay staring at the ceiling of Cassandra's room, which was full of European carvings.

Outside, Laura was eavesdropping on the conversation of the three Hexa vampire girls. Her small smile was displayed with various thoughts flashing through her head. For some reason, hearing Cassandra's conversations with her friends—including mentioning that she shouldn't be invited into the fun at folk costume parties—made her adrenaline work. She straightened up, brushing her fingernails.

'Even without your permission, I will come', she thought flatly. She smiled crookedly, before waving away in quick, arrow-like steps avoiding Cassandra's room. Without the slightest sound, it was as if the girl was running on air.
