Volume 1: Authors Notes

This won't be long…hopefully. This fic was made on a whim like most of my others and has no real set direction or eventual plans. That means no complex foreshadowing unless I do actually plan to create some.

This isn't intended to be overly dark and on the contrary pretty light. Characters who are depicted as the antagonist are not going to be subjected to death unless they are actually worthy of it. So, characters like Julius and the other princes who may end up as adversaries to the MC won't get beheaded just because they are temporary foes. People like Evelyn are the same while those like Agatha are eligible and more than likely exactly that will happen.

In regards to the skills he has, please stop expecting near perfect purchases and loop hole exploitations. While I myself can think of a few it overall takes away from the story. Not everyone is like minded in what they consider a smart purchase and just because someone may overlook a better option does not make them stupid.

This is derived from a story where individual power outside of armors and battleships are severely underwhelming, and the MC is already starting to defy that logic.

Unlike my other stories I'd like to have some sort of moderation in regards to raw power and not throw Noir into the realm of one punch man. He'll be stronger, a lot more so than Leon in the original but in the end their origins really are not that different.

I know this is gonna piss some of you off but he is not some unfeeling monster. While his care for certain things are rather lax he still has morals and stuff he values. Don't get pissy if you think something he does/did is not entirely out of logic.

I really am just tired of the unrealistic settings present in some of these stories and even more so when everyone and their mother seems to believe "Yes, I watched [insert anime] and [insert MC] was so dumb and if I was to be there I'd do everything right."

Disregarding humanity is cool, it's fun…sometimes, but when people don't want to do it, it does not automatically make a story bad. People are allowed to make mistakes and that should be reflected in stories.

I should also say, that apart of being human is having traits that aren't always "good". Laziness, being conceited, rudeness, etc. Most of the time the only negative character traits seen in MC's are excessive maliciousness, and overabundance in lust.

The former is simply used to add that unfeeling monster trait to characters. A way to make a story extremely dark and twisted for the authors pleasure.

The latter is something I am entirely guilty of. Everyone (not everyone) wants a harem (at-least what is advertised) with plenty of sex. It is in a sense the male fantasy. That is why authors make it so the characters are just plain sexual deviants and go after any hot enough girl. You will notice though, through a lot of these fics that 'overabundance in lust' has been skewered in such a way that it's not even seen as bad anymore, the same goes with the 'excessive maliciousness'.

Instead, those traits are looked for actively with tags such as #Harem or #Villain, and 9/10 following that you will see a genius protagonist who does everything right.

I should mention that it is not just fan-fictions that are guilty of this, it is some of the original source material as well.

Most isekai are a good example. Think about the most generic isekai you know, exactly how much personality does the character even have if not except excessive lust or the the typical good guy Japanese.

You rarely see growth in them because those traits aren't seen as bad in the first place and as such characters don't need character development.

My point with this rant is, I'm allowed to make my character flawed. I'd just appreciate if some of you could understand that and just click off if what your looking for isn't here.

Anyway, this was more of a rant than anything.

Here's a bit of info though:

-Leon's not in the story.

-I plan to make the MC OP but not to world breaking proportions.

-The pace of the story will change throughout.

-Years have passed since he's read the original source material, he forgot things.

-He's not a training fiend. He has a life outside of getting stronger.
