Training Alone

~~~(POV: Alexander Aevum)~~~
~~~(Location: The Room of Requirement)~~~

~~~(Date: September 3rd, 1991)~~~
~~~(Time: 11:00 AM)~~~

I enter The Room of Requirement and immediately start my training. Since Granger is getting me the assignments, I can train without worrying. Gryffindor is already living up to its reputation. Well, more like Granger is stepping up and lending me a hand.

She's probably doing it to repay me for getting Malfoy off her case. I completely understand wanting to get that type of person away from you. If anything, I'm the one that's lived up to a Gryffindor, which is strange.

I'm not usually like this, the one to go out of my way to help others. To talk to them. Albus has influenced my upbringing. He helped open me up to the world, and that's okay with me.

It's time I got some training done. Mainly finding out a way to test Summa Exitium on the Protego spell. The dummies in The Room of Requirement don't use spells like Protego.

So I have no way to test out my spell against the primary defense of any wizard, which isn't something I want to walk around not knowing.

I'm not going to ask Albus to help me with this. He shouldn't know about Summa Exitium. My trump card will stay hidden.

Speaking of Albus, he must not be coming today, or he's running late. I don't know which. This is only the second day we're doing this. So the schedule is a little iffy. I stand across from some of the dummies and practice basic spells.

The report I've gotten details the robbery at Gringotts Bank. It happened July 31st, but now that more information is out, I can't help seeing what's been attempted at being stolen. I'm glad I tasked Hagrid to bring The Sorcerers Stone here.

I stop looking at the report from the ministry and look at another one from an old friend. I sent him a letter regarding any information he could find on the Aevum family, and I have yet to read the letter.

It only just arrived this morning. Now seems like the perfect time. I open the letter and read it. What I read surprises me. Or should I say what I don't read. There is no information regarding the Aevum family. Only paranoid thoughts are written down.

"Albus, I must warn you to stay away from Alexander Aevum. Talking about it this much is already dangerous. If you want to talk about the Aevum family and learn more about the prophecy you found. Do it with someone else."

This isn't what I expected to receive when I asked about the Aevum family. My interest in this mystery has grown more. Jack has always been reliable when I've sought information about families.

"I don't want to be dragged into whatever you're doing. I heed you to dispose of the boy as soon as possible. If not, never contact me again, and never tell anyone I told any of this. Never speak about your findings, and we both might live."

In all my years, Jack has never sounded so insane. He's terrified of a little boy... Suggesting I kill him... Jack wasn't my only contact, but he was the most likely to know.

By this letter, he knows enough to put a fear of death in him. After a sigh, I lay the letter on my desk. I look at the other reports, and most are finances that need planning for next year. It's more monotonous work.

I stand up and walk over to my private collection of books. Pulling out the book with the prophecy in it. I want to re-read it.
