Samuel decided he would just go check if Alsian was in the training hall this evening. Most times he told Samuel what evenings he would be available, but since Samuel had no real idea of what day it was he could only take a chance.
Leaving his house and locking the door he took a nice brisk walk through the evening chill with the sunlight slowly dying out, it was awfully quiet. In fact he couldn't see a single soul around, "Ok, something is definitely not right here."
He reached the building and still no one was around, not that many people were usually around the training halls him and Alsian used, it was still weird that he had seen no one.
Walking through empty corridors until he reached the correct hall, it was dark as the magical lights had been turned off, Samuel walked inside and closed the door.
Quickly finding the switch and turning it on, he could see fairly well in darkness after all. A sideffect of being part wolf-lycan-werewolf whatever one would call it.
An empty hall was there, but now Samuel could hear something from the other side of the hall, where there was another door. It stood slightly ajar and it sounded like voices were coming from it.
Samuel quiet but quick made his way over, the door stood slightly ajar and on the other side was another small sideroom that was dark. But on the other side of the sideroom stood another door ajar with light coming from it.
That is also where the sounds were coming from, now that he was close it was easy to tell they were voices. As quietly as he could he opened the first door and snuck through.
Making sure to watch his step as he slowly approached the other door, the voices were becoming more clear and he managed to peek into the other door into this new room where he had never been before.
It was a pretty large room with a huge table where many people sat in discussion. He saw some familliar faces and quite a few new ones.
---------------------------------
"The entire college is on lockdown, all students have been ordered to stay in their houses. Until we can find the ones working with the Darkor Cultists!" Vazal Boo, the headmaster spoke to his present council.
"What makes you so certain we will find them so soon?" Yasshan asked curiously.
"Because they have slipped up and left a few traces for us to find Yass!" Alsian whom was also present replied, before nodding at Tyklion and his team. "They will easily be able to find the ones we are looking for."
"Yes yes!" The man known as Martallum Duggan chimed in an agreement. "Tyklion and his team are experts at finding and dealing with cultists that have snuck in."
Vazal couldn't help but sigh, he was worried that people would get hurt. He wanted to avoid conflict as best he could, "Trisphyra, Martallum, Alsian, make the best of what we have. Do not make it an all out war inside our own school!"
"We will be careful!" Alsian spoke with a raised eyebrow, it was almost like Vazal was afraid of something. "We will also continue to train the best of the best, but these recent incidents have not helped the Republic Council to be at ease."
"There is a lot to answer for on their own part, but also we have some things to answer for. We can't grow lax now!" When Alsian spoke everyone seemed to listen.
All except for one that slowly turned his head, Tyklion whom had never taken off his armor or helmet turned to look at a small gap where one of the doors to the room was.
He quickly stood up and held out one hand. "Bringer." He spoke the weapons name and the halberd was instantly summoned in his hand, which he quickly tossed right at the opening.
-----------------------------------
Samuel was just listening in to their conversation slighty, knowing that he shouldn't he took a deep breath and took a step or two away to leave, this business didn't concern him directly.
So he wasn't going to eavesdrop any more than what he had already overheard. But as he was backing away he saw Tyklion suddenly summon a weapon and in the next moment he threw it at the door Samuel was backing away from.
"Oh shi-!" Samuel instantly summoned the strongest magical barrier he could as the halberd came crashing through the door, it collided with his barrier, it created a crack.
Thankfully it didn't pierce through, but Samuel was sent flying backwards through the first door all the way into the training hall where he collided into the wall.
His barrier cracked again, but just barely managed to hold up from both the impacts. "Whew, that was too close!" He sighed in panic as he had been that close to dying.
"Close indeed!" He heard a voice in front of himself and Tyklion was there right outside his barrier holding the halberd, which he gripped tightly as he swung a sweeping attack at Samuels left.
Samuel instantly extended his left hand and casted a powerful gust of wind. His barrier would maybe have taken another hit, but he would have been sent flying again into another wall which would leave him dazed again.
It was better to dodge, was the conclusion he came to and it had probably been the right move. The air sent him flying sideways, dodging the swing.
Tyklions swing also produced a blue slash of lightning, not much different from Samuels magically infused weapon attacks.
If Samuel had not used wind he would have probably died, as the magical slash went through his cracked barrier like butter, but because he went flying sideways the slash only grazed the tops of his hair on the side.
His left ear also took some lightning shocks, but nothing too serious.
Landing on his side he slid for a short distance as he aimed both hands in Tyklions direction, he instantly shot out ten large orbs of fire.
Tyklion stared at the orbs, "Wait what?" Was the first thing he said when he realized what the orbs were.
Ten large explosions of fire occurred around Tyklions position, covering most of the training hall in flames. Fire and smoke was all that filled the place.
Samuel slowly sat up, he wasn't afraid of defending himself. Even if he was probably in the wrong for eavesdropping, and it was also the part when he heard about the college being on lockdown and the students being ordered to stay inside their houses that had made him attempt to leave.
He had realized he definitely shouldn't be there. "STOP!" Alsians voice suddenly resounded through the hall. Samuel looked at Alsian before turning his eyes back in Tyklions direction.
His eyes slowly looked at the tip of the halberd just half a meter away from his face, he also saw Tyklion stopped mid movement as if he was frozen in place.
At least that is what it would look like to most people who were not magical or trained in magic, but all the spellcasters could see the yellow like chains holding Tyklion locked in place... Locked in time.
Samuel had been saved by time magic. But his breathing still froze when he saw just how close death had been again.
Who knew when it could be his last breath, who knew what the limitations to his ability to return was. Was death any less scary, to Samuel it was a little bit less scary, but that didn't make it any more pleasant of a feeling or thought.
He exhaled a big sigh as he crawled backwards. Right behind Alsian the rest of the council came to see what was going on. Tyklion had made a sudden move like that after all.
After Samuel had pulled himself backwards enough, Alsian let go of his magic and Tyklion jammed the halberd into the floor with the rest of his movement returned to normal.
"Stop why? This one here was spying, perhaps he is one of the ones we are looking for... Why else would he be here?" Tyklion was quite obviously frustrated as he questioned Alsians command.
"Because... That young idiot is my cousin, and he hates Darkor cultists more than most of us." Alsian sighed and walked forward.
"But I am not sure why he is sneaking around like a fool with the college on a temporary lockdown. Its like asking to get in trouble."
Samuel brushed off some dust as he slowly stood up before the Dawnkeepers, "Well, I think I have been asleep for like more than twenty four hours or something... So I definitely missed any announcement about that!"
Hearing his words everyone stared at him like he was some dumb idiot. Alsian stared at him in disbelief, Vazal in confusion, but Trisphyra smiled innocently. The rest looked at him like he was a lost cause of a student.
"Perhaps if you spent more time studying rather than sleeping you wouldn't be so weak... Auch, these damn new students not taking things seriously." One of them spoke before turning their back and leaving.
Most of them started leaving to go back to their meeting room, now that they had gotten Alsians words for it they all took it at face value.
Some of them remained and smiled, "No... not weak, nowhere near weak." Tyklion broke the silence and the ones who had stayed or were in the process of leaving all stopped up to look at him.
