Chapter 20

“All the comforts of home and then some,” he said as he came to rest in one of the chairs at the table standing in front of the windows in the parlor.

Edan sat across from him. Resting his elbows on the table, he said, “I’m sorry. I should have asked if you wanted to share a room, especially since I made the reservations before we went to dinner.”

Gideon debated whether to make him feel bad about that and decided it didn’t matter, although he did ask, “What if we hadn’t ended up in bed at your place.”

Grinning, Edan replied, “Then I’d have tried to work my wiles on you tonight.”

“Honestly, Edan, you’re too much.”

“As I told Maeve, I live in hope.”

“She’s awfully friendly with you,” Gideon said. “And what was with, umm, Felix? He acted as if he knew you a bit too well for my taste.”

“He doesn’t, although he’d like to, which he’s made evident more than once in the time I’ve been coming here. As for Maeve, we’re old friends who care about each other.”
