Everything was taken from him. His mother, father, wife and his life. When he asked the person who took overthink why, he said boredom He was given a second chance, but this time, he would be the one who was 'bored.'
Chapter 6: Magic Knight Academy
We both made our way to the Tower I was at a week before the first thing after we woke up.
All of the schools already had separate booths set up, and we seemed to be the first ones to arrive.
We eventually saw the name 'M.K.A' and made our way there, to see 2 different types of instructors waiting for us.
1 of them was a female, slightly taller than Akashi at 1.75. Clearly she was a magician, wearing a massive robe, covering every single part of her body. She also had long braided black hair, her name is Merry.
The other person was a male, at around 2.2m tall, with an extremely muscular build and a broadsword behind him. He also had a trimmed beard and seemed to be the stereotype of a macho man. His name is Marco.
"Hi, my name is Merry. Do you guys wish to become Knights or Magicians." She asked casually, not even glancing at us.
"It was my understanding that we could train both if we came to your school." I asked, to which both of them looked up at us in a mocking way.
Merry's eyes started to glow purple, and Marco put a pair of spectacles on and they seemed to start judging us.
"Even in our school we don't give out the techniques to become a Magic Knight easily, you first have to pick if you want to specialise as a Magician or a Knight. Only after reaching Rank 2 can you learn the next one." Merry explained.
"You kid, join us knights." Maco said, as he stood in front of Akashi, and placed his hands on his shoulder.
"While it's unfortunate that you're not taller. With your already fit body, you can become a splendid knight eventually."
Welp, he's dead.
The Akashi I got as a template is not the Akashi at the end of their final game, he's the Aakashi before fighting Kagami and getting his old self back.
He is the epitome of a perfectionist, and severely dislikes getting looked down upon.
He only left me since I am his ally.
Just remembering the scene where he asked Kagami to lower his head gives me goosebumps.
However, contrary to what I thought, Akashi didn't say anything rude. He just swatted the hand and looked towards the Magician and said," I wish to learn Magic."
"While I appreciate that you can recognise Mana's superiority to Aura, what the muscle head said is right, you're better suited for Aura." Merry said, as her eyes stopped glowing purple.
Right then everything clicked for me, Akashi looked at me as if saying it took you long enough.
"What the fuck did you just say? Bitch who is a slave to magic?" Marco said with anger in his eyes.
"Watch your tone, we are on a mission." Merry replied.
"I am pretty sure I can pick. I dislike people who use Aura anyway." Akashi said, which further cemented what I was thinking.
Clearly, there was a divide between these 2 people.
It can either be that Merry and Marco simply can't stand each other, or that their entire school is divided between Mana and Aura users.
I mean it was probably bound to happen since humans create conflict at any given moment, kinda our thing.
Akashi plans to pick a side, mainly being a magician, and I should pick being a knight. If we were wrong, at most in the school people will just believe he dislikes Aura users and I dislike mana users.
If we are right, we can easily get onto the good side of the supposed factions in the school.
Sure it will be harder to communicate but we should eventually be able to.
"Right, how about you?" Merry asked not to pry further.
I ignored her and turned to Marco and said," I wish to be a Knight."
Marco turned to me, slightly more happy about his shitty situation and said," Good, now you can ignore those two till the end of the day before we leave."
After talking to Marco more, I found out that he himself is a Rank 2 Knight, and an apprentice Magician while Merry is a Rank 2 Magician.
After about 8 more hours, there were 40 people who joined me and Marco, and 20 joined Akashi and Merry.
The Magicians left first, leaving behind the Knight Recruits.
"First things first, tell me your grimoire abilities." Marco said, as people started to explain their abilities.
Some could summon another hand, some could materialise swords, breathe fire.
When it came to my turn, I was a little nervous, but still said the answer I thought appropriate.
"Is it fine if I do not share mine? My work is better with lesser people knowing." I said.
Marco had a little smile on his face, as he nodded.
I was obviously hiding mine since it was dumb to let everyone know your unique grimiore skill.
Seeming to catch on to what I did, the people after me also started to share their skills, but some of them still decided to do it.
" Now that that's out of the way, we are going to be going on a month-long trip from here.
The magicians get to use the teleportation gate to get back to their side of the academy, but we have to walk our way there.
This way, during the trip I can teach you all about Aura, you can select your type of weapon and know more about yourselfs.
You have 1 goal during this trip, awaken Aura.
If you cannot even sense Aura by the time we reach the Academy, you will be sent back here.
If you can manifest Aura onto weapons, you will be given a prize when we reach the Academy. Now, let's move, Magnus comes up here."
I nodded as well and started to move together and leave the tower.
"I see you caught onto what I was doing." He said as we walked.
I didn't say anything and just nodded.
"What type of weapon do you use?" He asked.
"I don't know, I have never trained in any weapons yet." I replied.
"I see…well, let me know if you have something in mind. I know you already sensed Aura before.
I can also tell Aura moved in your body before…I'm assuming you were in a dangerous situation, causing Aura to move in your body to protect yourself." He said.
"How can you tell?" I asked back, surprised.
"These glasses help to show Aura or Mana traces, and the fitness of a physical body." He said, showing back the spectacles he wore last time.
"Let me give you some advice. You're in the perfect state to train Aura right now. When one is in danger, Aura moves subconsciously. That probably happened to you, the path in which your Aura moved is perfect for you.
There are many different types of Aura training methods which circulate Aura in different ways, you already have what your body has closest affinity to, just find something similar to it in the academy.
I also have a separate goal for you. You have to manifest Aura by the time we reach the academy. If you can do that, I as a high ranking student will put in a good word for you and let you get an Aura training method."
I was being shown preferential treatment, probably because I said mages and seemed to be a little smart for him.
I nodded, and to curry a little favour I said," Marco, what weapon would you recommend me to use?"
He looked at me once again and said," For you, probably the sword. After building your body up in the Academy, maybe in 6 months, you might even become a Rank 1 knight with intermediate swordsmanship."
"What do you mean by intermediate swordsmanship, are there separate ranks for that?" I asked.
"Ah yes, yes there are. There are 5 different ranks for proficiency in swordsmanship, for the other weapons as well. Beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional and master ranks.
Anyone can become a beginner level at a weapon, all they have to do is imbue Aura onto their weapons.
Intermediate onwards it gets a little complicated. To become an intermediate rank, you need to be able cover your entire weapon in Aura.
Advanced you need to be able to shoot your Aura
Professional you need to be able to use your weapon without your weapon, or whatever that means. I myself am trying to figure this out.
Usually when you reach a high rank in one weapon you can learn the others pretty fast.
That's why most of us are not limited to one weapon."
He smirked, taking the massive broadsword off of his shoulders and said," this isn't even my main weapon. I put it here to distract my enemies from my main skills."
I now seemed to learn a lot more. I should not believe everything I see.
"It works differently for magicians, mind you. You should find out more about that in the academy, you will be fighting plenty of them in the future."
I nodded and then said," I think I will start with the sword."
He nodded, and passed me a small ring.
"This is only given to people who have sensed Aura. You have not only sensed Aura, but can probably apply it onto your weapon soon, so you can have it."
The second I grabbed the ring, it expanded and turned into a heavy weight I was shocked by.
"Geez you're weak, that is only 20 kgs. Anyways, that is an Aura condensed weapon, something craftsmen make.
A training weapon to train in your Aura. Aura is all around us in nature, and right now we are going to be walking through a forest for a month, so there is plenty of Aura here.
The second the weapon has Aura in it, it expands. Your job is simple, when in a non combat state, it has to stay in ring form, so you have to remove the Aura from the sword.
When you can freely change forms between it and you can keep it in ring form for a day straight, I will teach you to manifest Aura.
After you can manifest Aura, I will teach you how to contain Aura in your body.
The day you can contain a certain amount of Aura, you can become a Rank 1 knight."
After that, I tried to move the Aura…but realised that a potion helped me to sense the Aura, I myself have not actually sensed it.
Marco however did not seem surprised, so it seems like I wasn't supposed to get it on the first try.
After walking for the entire day and eating the provided food, we eventually took a break right before the sun set.
I grabbed the sword and tried again to sense the Aura, and I was able to this time.
The second I could sense it, I could sense the overwhelmingly large Aura the sword had compared to me.
I tried to take the Aura and despair into the surroundings, but it was ridiculously difficult.
That means I am supposed to release the Aura more than that is absorbed, how is that possible.
I then looked at Marco carefully and realised he was holding 10 rings, each on a finger. That means he is doing 10 times the training I am right now.
I sighed, deciding to sleep for the night, when I felt a splash of water on my back.
"HAHA," laughed a group of the kids.
Marco opened his eyes, glanced at them and ignored them.
"What was that for?" I asked, completely drenched.
"Nothing, my grimoire helps me convert energy to water you see. What was your again? Oh wait, you're hiding it? Why does it help you to grow your tiny dick larger?" Commented the same kid.
I could hear more laughter, as I just stared at them.
What should I do?
On Earth, I would ignore them. Why would I want to fight kids? Mentally, I'm 19, they are 15 year old kids, there's no point.
But I remember watching 1 influencer before who said this.
You're taught not to be who you are, to fit in. You are taught to kill your urges and be who they want you to be. 'You should be a beast, an absolute monster, then learn how to control it.'
Welp, kids' heads are getting bashed I guess.
