That…is a pretty broken fruit!

I am sure there's going to be a limit to the fruit's eating capabilities, since it is going to be converted into a grimoire skill.

For example the Emperor Eye, Akashi and I figured if we added mana or aura it might get buffed.

(Authors note: Yes, this is a nerf, my plot fucking sue me you stanky bitch, also know that there a drum ishland character who ate this but I can't find the wiki so I am using another mob)

I immediately bought the fruit and decided not to summon this character. Mainly because I don't even remember her from one piece, well I did rush through the show.

After I told Akashi about the fruit's skill, he nodded slightly.

While not the best, this definitely can be useful in its own way.

From what I understand the power increments are minimal, but it can be used in a unique way in this world.

There are definitely plenty of elixirs that humans can consume, or the other potion I took to summon Akashi, I can probably still train aura with it.

Thankfully, this is not a devil fruit, but a skill of my grimoire, that means that I can choose when to activate it.

I can still get a 100% of the effects of normal elixirs, take useless elixirs and activate the fruit then give myself a buff no matter how small.

There will definitely be people who would want to experiment on me by giving me trail potions, welp, more power for me.

I just need to be safe on revealing this.

Now, we both had to decide which schools we would want to go to.

"The original plan was for me to go to a magic school and you to a knight's one. From what we gathered, a knight's school gives potions weekly to build aura while a Magic school gives lectures weekly, so the plan shouldn't have to change." He shared his thoughts to which I agreed.

For Magicians, apparently they have to make contributions in Magic theory to get elixirs since Mana potions were harder to come by near this city.

"So," he said drawing my attention," I have shortlisted 3 schools."

"I am assuming the Iron Knights and Reclusive Mages are a part of them?"

"Yes, they are no-brainers."

I nodded and added," You are right. The iron knights are known for their kindness to their students and generosity in resources. They also frequently produce Rank 1 knights and have a Rank 3 headmaster."

"Right, and the Reclusive Mages focus mainly on Magic theory and the study of Magic. Only Rank 1 Mages go for contributions so I don't even have to worry about paying them back for a while." He added.

What Akashi and I found out easily is the Ranks of power in this world.

It is the same for Knights and Mages, just changing between the type of energy, Aura and Mana.

Knights contain Aura inside of their Heart and Mages contain their Aura around their heart.

Due to the contradicting movement of energies, there are no Magic Knights in this city.

Everyone starts at the 'Apprentice Stage' or feeling Mana, or Aura.

I am technically already an apprentice since I already felt aura.

Then, depending on the amount of Aura, or the amount of mana, one can become a Rank 1- Rank 9 Mage or Knight.

Apparently anything above Rank 4 is just a legend, but Akashi and I know better than to be stupid.

At a higher level, Rank 4 are probably not even cannon fodders.

"What is the third place?" I asked, since we both got to the same conclusion with the other 2 places but I didn't think of a third one.

"It's literally called School for Magic Knights, it's a last minute entry school. Apparently their Headmaster is a Rank 4 Magician and Rank 3 Knight.

I was able to find this out by camping at the information agency and using my eyes to spy and predict conversations."

"This is definitely a protagonist level school. Last minute entry usually means immense background. Saves us a lot of trouble, but also puts us in plenty of trouble," I said, to which he nodded.

"I agree, but if we leave an entirely different path out of sight just because of trouble we won't become strong." He added with a calm look.

"Sigh, so that school it is. Is it the same as the other schools which don't have an entry requirement and have a trial period?" I asked, to which he nodded.

Most of the schools here include everyone for about 3 months, then there is another exam.

There are many reasons for this.

The first is to judge their Grimoire. If it's something useful they will keep the student.

The second is to see if they have talent in Aura or Mana. Someone might have a shitty grimoire skill, but really good Aura or Mana talent and they don't want to miss out on that.

Another is to give existing students pressure. Usually, slackers form, constantly looking at fresh meat gives the seniors pressure to improve.

Lastly, to give said seniors experience. Fighting new styles of Grimoire or teaching different people makes existing seniors learn more than just listening to lectures.

"Yes, still on a trial basis. After going in we can learn how to become Magic Knights and gain a foothold there.

We will also still be able to communicate well and help you with the next character template." He added.

"I was thinking, the next one, should be an item. Maybe a high ranking one? I wanna test to see if we give a high ranking sword I will get a swordsman template.

I mean, I gave up my 'future lifespan' to get the Emperor's Eye, we traded on food and clothes for a eating fruit that manufactures stuff, so maybe this can work."

"You are right," he said while nodding," we should try that."

After that, we continued to discuss our plans and slept on the streets for 1 last time. Tomorrow will be the start of our journey.
