CHAPTER 18 MAGIC
Morning came
Shadow woke up and sat up.
Looking at Shelia, who was sweetly sleeping beside him, he smiled and tenderly kissed her.
Shadow then prepared himself. After he finished, he grabbed Glutton and teleported.
He arrived in his room in the city. He looked at Glutton and laughed out loud, seeing him spinning around. He waited for Glutton to recover, then set off to the Mercenary Guild. He asked the clerk about his test.
The clerk gave him three F-class missions and told him the deadline for the test was a week.
The following missions are:
10 fox grass (F-Class) (20 coppers)
20 slime cores (F-Class) (40 coppers)
10 horns of horned rabbits (F-Class) (30 coppers)
Shadow grabbed the mission paper and set off. He arrived at the forest, and he and Glutton set off in different directions. Shadow will finish the slime while Glutton will hunt the horned rabbit.
Shadow arrived at the slime habitats, and he saw three slimes just moving about.
Shadow sped off and grabbed their cores. The three slimes became a puddle of goo. If a slime core was taken from a slime, the slimes would become a puddle of goo. Without their core, they could not maintain their form.
Shadow scanned the orbs.
Slime Core: can be used as energy storage.
Shadow kept the cores and kept hunting slime. When it was nearly the end of the day, Shadow returned and got 20 slime cores. He kept them in his backpack. He went to a certain tree. He saw Glutton sleeping underneath the tree. Besides, there were 10 horns.
After Shadow put the horns in his backpack and picked Glutton up, he returned to the city.
They returned to the bar to have dinner and sleep.
When morning came, he directly went to the forest. Glutton and him were searching for fox grass. The only tip for searching for fox grass is to follow a fox. It was named fox grass because the fox species seems to like it.
When Shadow was travelling in the forest, he encounteredan unsconcious, wounded little fox.
Shadow caught it, bandaged its wound, and scanned the fox.

He was startled to see that the fox is a naturally born silver-level beast; what's more, it is a legendary-grade beast, and he was also surprised that he could not access any information about its skills and stats.

Shadow was tempted to sign a contract with it immediately, but he didn't want to make the fox very loyal to it by solving its problem and signing willingly by itself to Shadow.
Waiting for the fox to wake up, Shadow continues to search for fox grass. He had bad luck, though he didn't find a glimpse of fox grass.
They were searching for it for 2 hours when, sitting near a creak and resting, the fox woke up and looked at Shadow, signalling him something.
Shadow shook his head, saying that it couldn't understand. The fox looked at Shadow again, jumped off his embrace, and kept limping in a certain direction.
Shadow understood the fox, meaning it was leading Shadow.
Shadow picks up the fox and looks at it. The fox seems to know its intention and looks, and it urges Shadow to go to a certain place.
Shadow then ran in the direction the fox was pointing. After running for half an hour, they arrived at a cave.
When Shadow was just about to enter the cave, Glutton let out a bark and growls. It seems there was a formidable beast inside. Shadow got tense but still entered the cave. He slowly and carefully walked deeper into the cave.
When they arrived inside the cave, he saw many grasses and a patch of beautiful flowers. There was also a dead adult fox beside the flowers, as well as a very injured tiger, and there seemed to be six fox pups shivering on the corner. Shadow scans the flower, grass, and tiger.

The little fox let out an anguished cry. It kept looking at the fox corpse. Shadow understood that it was the fox parent.
Shadow looks at the tiger again and decides to kill it, even though it is GOLD LEVEL 6. It is gravely injured.
Shadow nodded at Glutton, ordering it to shoot [Wind Blades] at the Tiger. After ordering, Glutton Shadow used [Wind Dash] and sped off to the Tiger. He put his hand on the Killers handle, ready to draw it.
Glutton let out a howl and shot a barrage of [Wind Blade] as a distraction.
The fox was lying on the grass while watching Shadow and Glutton risk their lives to fight the tiger. It felt touchy knowing they were getting revenge for her.
She let out a cry and produced fireballs and shot them at the tiger. The little pups, seeing their sister fighting, seem to gain courage; they also produce fireballs and fire them at the tiger.
Shadow was near the tiger. The tiger opened its eye and let out a roar.
Shadow was blown away by the force of the roar.
All the attacks were nullified by the roar Shadow made, which wiped the blood leaking out of the corner of his mouth.
Shadow looks at the tiger; it seems he used a great deal of energy with that attack. Shadow looks at his surroundings, and the tiger thinks, 'It seems the fight will be very troublesome'.
