Prophecy (Prologue)

On the first winter morning in the world where winter bears no sun.

Arrives a demon with draconic wings, elvish ears, and a hunger for fun.

She wields tools of the common man

And puts the fear of God into any righteous clan.

The Devil, as she is known

brings forth more ruin than ever been shown.

A storm marks her approach.

Her power, beyond reproach.

Heroes shall arrive with malice and astonishment of heart

While our villain would have lost before they could even get their start.

CRACK! PANG!

Lightning struck the sheet of snow that laid upon dead grass and the corpses of trees. A beautiful woman with two horns protruding from the top of her head, long sharp ears, and silver hair stood in a flurry of snow. Her fair skin brightened red at the cheeks, and the reptile scales at her joints hardened. She covered them with a brown cape. Her purple short dress below her white fur covered black jacket kept her warm in this dayless winter. She shifted her deep blue eyes upon the world before her.

"Damn, it's foggy as balls here. Where the hell are the heroes?" She said as she smiled and used her right hand to shield the snow from her eyes.

"Master!" An exhausted masculine voice yelled out behind her. The howling wind drowned it out a bit.

She turned around, digging into her ears, then raised her hands in delight. "My my, can't keep up I see."

The man stopped, slouched over, his entire body covered by a black robe. Snow accumulated all over. It reminded the woman of a game from her previous life, a chess board. She laughed upon the sight of it.

"This is not a joking matter. The heroes. They've invaded from the south! The intel about the north was a lie! At this rate, we'll lose everything!" The man gasped for air as the woman looked around.

For as far as the woman could see was a sea of white. Small hills, fallen debris, corpses of a once thriving wildlife, and mountains seemed like waves. For a moment she could see it being stained with red. She rubbed her eyes, then sighed. She began walking away from the man to a nearby elevated pile of snow.

"W-Where are you going master?" The man said, straightening himself.

The woman turned her body around, her arms still swinging in the middle of her stride. "Where? I'm a bit nervous, so I'm going to take a shit."

"Master! I thought you said you were going to become more lady-like. Telling me that is unbecoming."

"Refrain from saying that again. I'll kill you if you do." She said with a smile, before turning back around. Besides, she thought, she wasn't always a woman.

CRACK! PANG!

My submission for WSA 2024. I hope I can win like our villain. If not, I'll be the good loser and grow from this. Thank you for reading.
