Reason

"So you are telling me that the main reason why humans normally lose to monsters is that humans aren't good at close combat? How did you know this?", Jim asked bewildered.

"Yes. The main reason why humans are losing the war against the monsters is that most human mages don't know how to fight at a close distance. If humans knew how to do that, with their current powerful elements, they could easily win the war. As for how I knew all this, they are from my fellow friends from the elemental realm.", explained Drey.

"I still don't understand. How can the monsters be good at close combat whiles we are so weak at close combat?", Jim asked confused.

"Fool! Listen. Monsters are already born with high physical strength and agility however, they lack intelligence when they are born."

"However, humans are born with intelligence but no outstanding physical attributes like the monsters. Monsters don't need to cultivate elemental powers as you do. They only cultivate their bodies."

" They are born with elemental affinity like fire etc. However, they cant use their elemental affinity until they gain intelligence which can only be gained around supreme ruler level and above. "

"To monsters, the leader must be the one who has intelligence. Monsters develop intelligence as they grow. However, humans already have intelligence at birth but they develop and cultivate elemental powers as they grow."

"Moreover, monsters don't have to train themselves through training, etc. They can only do that after they gain intelligence. However, fighting is one of their instinct to survive. So they learn to fight in natural ways. "

"However, because humans lack that instinct, they have to train their elemental powers or else, they can never know how to fight. That is why humans must learn how to cast spells. However, monsters don't need that. They do not learn to cultivate until they gain intelligence."

"Moreover, Spells from humans rarely affect monsters at the same level or realm because of the tough body monsters normally have. So to be guaranteed winning, humans have to have at least one level above a monster to win in a fight against a monster."

" However, if humans are to perfect close combating like monsters, humans one level less than monsters could win in a fight against a monster a level higher than him or her", Drey gave a long but detailed explanation.

"Oh, I see. So monsters don't need to have elemental powers to kill humans. However, humans need elemental powers to defeat monsters. So if humans can fully master close combat with their elemental powers, they can win against monsters.", Jim said.

"Exactly! That's why you being able to learn how to fight in close combat is important to me. I even suspended our control test so that you can learn this. It is very important. After all, having power and not being able to fight is a waste of the power you have. ", Drey said.

Jim nodded.

"So put these three things you learnt in your head. The first one is that you must be able to use your surroundings in a fight. Secondly, you must be able to use the amount of power you have to fight. And as for the last one, you should never give up! This is the most important lesson. "

"Never! I repeat Never! close your eyes and wait for death! That is a sign of cowardice. Don't ever think about that! It is better to die than to be a coward.", Drey strictly said to Jim.

"Okay!", Jim said as he nodded his head.

"Okay. We are now going to the training we were doing. However, I want to lay one rule. YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO DEFEND AND NOT TO ATTACK! That is the only rule. Now let's start!", Drey said as he attacked Jim.

*******

*Clang, clang, clang*

The sound of metal clanging together occasionally echoed in Jim's spiritual world. Currently, Jim was fighting Drey. Not Necessarily fighting Drey.

He was simply blocking Drey's constant attacks. However, the current Jim was totally different from before. Not only did he have blue armour on, but He also had a broadsword in his hands.

On top of all that, He had blue wings that glowed with lightning attached to his back. He was currently fighting Drey who also had two pieces of black lightning attached to his back in the sky!

However, even with all of Jim's currently armour, he was still at the disadvantage. Even though he had his imagination as his power, it was almost impossible to block all of Drey's constant attacks.

Drey's constant attacks made it so that Jim couldn't even think. This also meant Jim couldn't also use his imagination and gradually, his disadvantaged position became clearer and clearer until...

"BOOM!"

"Ah~~"

A loud shout came from the sky as a body could be seen falling from the sky. The armour and wings began to fade away from the body.

The body was quickly being followed by a middle-aged man who had blue armour with black wings attached to it. The middle-aged man caught the body and landed slowly. After that, he placed the body down on the floor. As for who these two people were, they were naturally Drey and Jim.

"You used a lot of spirit power. Why did you do that?", Drey said emotionally as he looked at Jim. "Because you told me to never give up. And I thought I could gain an advantage. But it turns out that you are too strong!", Jim said.

"Hmmm, rest up else you will lose too much spirit power which can lead to death.", Drey said to Jim as began to walk away.

"I thought you said death is better than being a coward", Jim said in confusion.

When Jim said that, Drey who was originally walking away stopped. He then turned and looked at Jim with a creepy smile on his face. The smile on his face alone sent chills down Jim's spine.

" Oh, so you want to die! Why didn't you tell me? I would be happy to help!" Drey said to Jim as he walked toward him with a creepy smile on his face.

"No! No! No! I was just playing foolish", Jim said with a shameless smile. "Hahahaha! See how you made your face! You are so scared. Hahahaha!", Drey said to Jim as he turned and began to walk away.

"Oh come on!", Jim said in total displeasure as he sat down and closed his eyes to cultivate and regain his spirit power.
