Chapter 67: Get Outta Jail Free Card

"I know what you want," said Alex with a small almost unnoticeable smirk on his face. "Plus there was a reason why I killed the Sword Mountain Sect. If you check their array, then you will learn that they weren't just a Sect of righteousness. They had many secrets."

The Lightning Sage frowned, he knew that any Mage would most likely do this to buy time. But he also understood that Mages were creatures of logic, none of them would do something that would just bring them harm without benefits.

Alex knew that the Sage of Lightning understood something basic like that. But while they had fought, the Mage wasn't the only one tired here. After all, the Lightning Sage had been dodging countless attacks and even ended up poisoned.

This time should at least allow him to purge the poison out of his body, something that Alex wouldn't want as an enemy of him. But let it go since he needed the man to at least listen to what he had to say.

"Then get in with it boy," the Sage Urged. "If I sense any lies on you, your head will fly off your neck."

"By now you should have noticed the Blood Sacrifice Array around this place," Alex pointed out.

"Yes, but that isn't something too rare. The Sword Mountain Sect is an ancient one with thousands of years of history, back then such rituals were the norm to create most arrays. At the time they didn't have the knowledge we do now," admitted The Lightning Sage reluctantly.

Alex saw the small opening left for him and went in. "Well, where do you think the giant Blood snake came from then? True I might be knowledgeable and a Legendary Mage. But the art of Blood Beasts has been lost for dozens of thousands of years. Even if I could create one, it would probably require too many ingredients to create in this place. While at the same time-fighting someone like you which even surviving against was hard enough. Not to mention creating a ritual to make a Legendary Rank beast."

Of course, what Alex didn't say was that the sacrifices in these grounds and the Bloody Pills he had gotten from the blood of the people that died here today. Those all combined would be enough to create something like the Deity Snake. But he didn't mention any of that. Plus he had already been planning to make the thing to become the Sword Mountain's guardian. Though the Sage of Lightning didn't need to know those facts either.

Alex's silver tongue was already doing its job, there was no need for his opponent to believe him. Only the seeds of doubt needed to be planted. There was no one to refute his claims, the whole Sect was massacred. So they could only take his word for it.

Plus there was plenty of time to plant some evidence. Also, he already had done a little of that too, as the plan all along had been for him to appear heroic while slaying the evil Sect.

Of course, deceiving someone like the Lightning Sage would be difficult due to the man's instincts. So he had to be careful or the battle would go on, and Alex was on 30% reserves, so continuing this wouldn't be a good idea.

"Do you have the guts to stay here till a Sight Mage comes?" Asked Lightning Sage forcefully. He didn't trust Alex at all, the kid was young, but he was no normal kid. After all, normal kids don't reach Legendary Rank by the time they are ten years old.

The world won't let someone grow in power without completing a Legendary deed. It was a rule of the world, like the sky was blue, someone needed to do something Legendary to stop the world itself from locking their rise to power. Something like slaying a Dragon or drinking a Dragon's blood which was considered to be as hot as lava and surviving, those and many others were considered Legendary Deeds. It should be something that will let you go down the annals of history. No human can escape this simple rule.

Of course, there have been people who broke the World's Chains of such a rule, and without doing such Legendary Deeds they broke through due to extreme effort and luck. But then again, some considered that breaking the world's chains would be considered such an act by itself.

"A Sight Mage…" Alex wasn't too sure about that one since a Sight Mage could see in the past of something. And his lie would be easily found out if he did anything incorrectly. But he knew the limitations of that sight too, so he had to be careful. "Of course I accept. An honest person has nothing to hide."

Though he said that with a convincing look, on the inside he was scheming how to hide the many things that would point at him. Could he lie to a Sight Mage? It depends, but he would take the chances on the matter. After all, at least by then, his Mana would be restored. So he would have better chances of escaping then instead of now.

'Also by then, more people will be around to get such blood from and regenerate my Mana. Using these Bloody Pills to do the same would be inefficient, and I don't have a lot of these after making the Divine Blood Snake.' – thought Alex, trying to come up with something on how to turn this situation around.

The Lightning Sage floated down on the ground and sat in front of him.

"Then we shall wait for the Royal Army to arrive. I won't let you out of my sights for even a second. Try anything funny and I will kill you. If I feel any spell above Rank 1 used, I will kill you. Do anything suspicious and I will kill you," he said those words as if they were indisputable facts. Anything out of the ordinary that Alex did would be answered with the Lightning Sage responding with deadly force.

Alex shrugged. "Whatever you say, old man, I will wait for the royal family to come here."

He then laid down on the ground and fell asleep. The Lightning Sage looked at him suspiciously.

'He is planning something.' – thought the old man, he winced slightly as a black pool of poison was expressed out of his body. 'This is bad, there was so much poison in that beast's stomach. As if it was made to swallow people. At first, I thought that I could kill it easier from the inside, but that mistake cost me.'

*Hisss!*

Suddenly, the last thing he wanted to hear happened as the Deity Blood Snake got up, its wounds already regenerated. The old man looked at Alex and frowned. "Brat… are you doing this?"

"Nah, I don't have the Mana to do any of that," said Alex with a yawn. "I don't even have the Mana to beat that thing anymore. So it's your problem now old man. Though I can promise you that I won't get away from here once you turn your back on me."

The Lightning Sage narrowed his eyes but had no choice except to fight the giant serpent. "I will chase you all over the world if you dare to run away, brat."

"Well, I don't care, old man. You will only have my word that I won't run away." Alex waved him off, he could be a little annoying now and get a raise out of the old man, – 'Hopefully, his annoyance will distract him in battle and he will die a gruesome death.'

Though he knew something like that wouldn't happen, in his mind Alex prayed to any God out there to kill this old man.

Still, though, Alex wasn't someone who believed in divine intervention. He would rather take things in his hand, and the Gods in this world definitely wouldn't be willing to intervene. Alex would pray for those guys to not intervene. They would just bring more trouble.

As the Lightning Sage went to fight, Alex knew that the old man was still keeping a look on him. But it didn't matter too much now as even at the peak of Legendary Rank Warrior he couldn't observe Alex fully.

So the Blood Mage pulled out a small crystal and said. "Camilla, can you have your army come to the Sword Mountain Sect as soon as you can? The Lightning Sage is here. Uhhh… the Royal Army will be here too so bring as many forces as you can avoid. I will owe you a big favor for this. I even have some top-secret information in the Holy Kingdom that you will like."

With that, the crystal turned to dust and the message was sent.
