The Battlefield Part 2

REGULUS POV

"Everyone, stay inside. I'll have to meet with someone…." I said hesitating on the last part, uncertain what the outcome would be.

I quickly ran outside as I intercepted her from entering the castle hall.

"It's… you? How did you survive the golem I made!?" She screamed, her voice visibly showing fear and anger.

I simply ignored her as I concentrated lightning on my spear, ready to attack at any moment.

"Tch, whatever, I'll make sure you don't survive this time!" She said stomping the ground as multiple human sized golems jumped out.

Counting them up there were about thirteen of them. All about a foot taller than me, tall but still they were killable.

Flickering right at the middle of the golems, a quick thrust pierced one of the golems and a bolt of lightning from my spear made contact with another golem, making a large explosion. Twisting my feet, I slammed my palm into the ground, arcs of lightning emerging from below, clearing all the golems nearby.

"H-How?" She said, slowly backing up in fear. "When did you get this strong!?"

"I held back last time since as I made sure not to harm the kids. But now there's no reason for me to hold back any longer." I whispered into her ear as I flash stepped behind her.

She immediately jumped back, clapping her hands as the same runes appeared, a golem then started to emerge from the ground. If I were to guess, it'll be of similar size to the one I faced a few weeks ago.

"I was waiting for this…." I murmured, showing a slight smirk on my face.

It was quite risky to attempt to use my new spell but it was worth the risk, casting a ball of lightning, I increased it's mana output as it grew larger and larger, cackling around my hand.

The woman attempted to stop this by conjuring a small boulder, but I countered by casting a small boulder as the golem had yet to finish.

"If this fails then it would kill both you and me, but it would be worth taking the chance!" I said in a hysteric voice. I've wanted to take revenge after what had happened, and now was my chance.

The ball of lightning reached a size that was as big as a carriage. Now this was enough, condensing the ball it got smaller and smaller, its size now as small as a small rock. Meaning the spell had succeeded.

The golem was now fully formed as it roared at me, but this was not intimidating or scary for me. Just as I expected it started charging towards me, but this would be over in an instant. Gently letting go of the ball of lightning, it started hovering to the golem. Slowly it got closer, then it made an impact with a massive explosion.

Covering my face from the debris, sensing that the woman was standing there on the same spot in shock, I flung my spear at the spot where she should be.

The sound of flesh being pierced followed by a large object falling to the ground made me certain I hit her. Slowly walking around the crater the explosion made, I reached the woman who was now bleeding out in a pool of blood, my spear right in the middle of her chest.

Now that I could see her clearly, she looked to be of northern descent, braided blond hair and battle paint all over her body, something I never understood about people like her.

In her final moments, she attempted to speak but all she could muster were a few faint coughs as her eyes stared at me with fear, and that was the last thing she did as earth pulled her back to its embrace.

Yanking my spear from her chest, I hesitantly started to search her corpse. Looking for any useful information I could get from her and what she was doing here.

From the corpse, I found a pouch which was concealed by her robe, inside it was a wickertree wand which could be sold at a decent price. A grimoire which contained spells about rock magic, a book about advanced mana mastery and a notebook containing possibly vital information.

Before leaving I looked at her one last time, in another life she could have been an ally, unfortunate that she was not.

I returned back to the castle as a few soldiers including Alicia seemed to have been watching from a distance. Some started clapping for my victory while a select few seemed to be alarmed by my power.

"Everyone! Start cleaning this place up, if you find something useful put it outside the hall. If not, throw it away!" I ordered them, though they didn't do anything but just stand there. "What are you all looking at! Start moving!"

I barked at them, which made them start moving. Sighing in relief I looked around the castle, entering a few rooms, eventually finding a usable bed to sleep in.

Taking off my chainmail and boots, I laid down onto the bed as the lack of mana had made me tired, closing my eyes I was eventually pulled out of my consciousness and fell into slumber.
