Another Ordinary Day...

I sat atop a cliff, overlooking a strange ocean with raging waves. The winds blew against my body hard, causing the cape I was wearing to billow wildly against my back. The suns rays warmed my bare skin, save for my right hand, which was concealed by an odd piece of equipment. I looked down to my arm to see what was on my arm.

There was an odd gauntlet covering my arm. It was a glossy grey, smooth and reflective. I flexed my fingers, and the joints clinked as the metal parts maneuvered around my hand. I rotated my hand, my palm facing away from me, and the back of the gauntlet facing me now. Placed on the center of the glove was a marvelous crimson crystal ornament, whish seemed to glisten in the sun.

The cawing of unfamiliar birds echoed over the ocean, catching my eyes. The animals looked like seagulls, yet they had six wings. There were three groupings of them, all flying against the wind. I watched for a moment as one grew close to my position on the cliff, getting carried away from the cliff after a gust of wind pushed it back.

My attention was drawn away from the cliffs when the sound of bouncing came towards me. I turned to see a ball, poorly crafted and made of a bunch of material stitched together. It bounced a few more times before rolling to me, hitting my ankle. I picked the ball up and looked at it, studying the quality of the ball. I looked up towards the direction of where the ball came from, seeing a small child.

The child had hair the color of the moon's light, and atop of it were two wolf-like ears, and I could see a wolfish tail wagging behind the child's back. The two of us stared at one another for a moment, and as we did, the sky seemed to shift colors, from a soft blue to a dark yellow. My vision was blinded by the sun and I was surrounded by light.

---------------------------

My eyes shot open, and I was in my bedroom, the decently sized room shrouded in darkness. I began to sit up, looking towards my window to see that the sun was out, blocked by my curtain. I rubbed my temple as I began to collect myself, my head hurting from the grogginess of slumber. Slowly, I moved my legs out of my bed and to the side, planting my feet onto the carpet floor. As I sit on the side of my bed, I rolled my shoulders and limbs, working out the stiffness.

"Liam, could you go shopping? We're out of milk!" I heard my mom say from downstairs, her voice muffled and quiet due to the soundproofing along my walls. I crack my neck, getting a few good crunches. I hop out of bed, moving my body a bit more as I move to my bedroom door. I open it and poke my head out.

"Yep, sure thing!" I slide back into my room, opening the curtain and getting flashed by good old sun, wincing as my vision is blinded. I blink a few times and can see what lays out beyond my home: The lovely city of Santa Margarita. Man, what a lovely view. I turned around and looked in my bedroom, with my gaming desk opposite my bed, my closet filled with t-shirts referencing popular games, and my bookshelves filled with my favorite media: light novels.

I loved reading; reading helped me escape from the harshness of reality, like when my girlfriend cheated on my with my best friend. I really don't care about that anymore, but at the time the thing I used to calm me down was a light novel about high schoolers dealing with my plight set in a mystical setting. Needless to say, neither are my friend anymore, but I wouldn't call them enemies. World's too complicated to call people enemies. Sounds childish.

I slipped on some jeans, put on my "Underworld Warlord" T-shirt and zipped up my crimson red hoodie, moving myself a bit to make sure everything fit properly. I grabbed my phone, wallet and moved to slip my shoes on, tapping my toes to the floor to make sure they were nice and snug. Opening my door once more, a small boy is waiting for me, hands outstretched. This kid looked like he was six or seven, and his little face was so squishable that it could have been molded into anything. Also my youngest sibling David.

"Hey, big brother!" The little lad said, hopping as I stepped out of my room, closing the door behind me. Don't need ay of them to come in and touch anything.

"Hey, little champ!" I replied, picking up the child and heaving him up into my arms. "You're getting kinda heavy there." I joke as I make my way to the stairs. "You having a good morning?"

The little dude nodded, holding onto me tightly. Our dad was almost barely home, working hard to provide for his four kids. I was the oldest, kind of a lost cause, but I managed to help keep my younger brother Shepard, the second son, out of trouble while growing up. So while I was a lost cause for my mom and pop, Shepard was given all of their attention, making sure he would have outstanding grades and get access to go to great colleges. I walked down the stairs with David still in my arms, entering the kitchen to see to women: my mom, a hard working stay at home mother, and my younger sister, Tanya, the third child.

She was a teenager right now, and while she wasn't going through a rebellious phase like Shepard had, she wasn't not being rebellious about certain things. She was kind of the odd woman out being the girl amongst us boys, and she was just distant, even though when she was a kid, she had always been close to me when I could hang out. Mom turned around, placing a plate in front of her, and Tanya simply rolled her eyes and grabbed a spoon, slowly turning what looked like oatmeal with fruit sprinkled into it.

"Liam, did you need any money for the milk?" My mom asked, taking David from my arms and setting him in a little baby chair. I shook my head in response, my hands delving into my pockets.

"No need, mom. Got paid two days ago and haven't bought any 'useless' stuff." I reeled back as I emphasized the word useless. "I'll grab the milk and maybe a book or two. Anything else you need?"

She looked over to the basket which normally held an abundance of fruit, which now only held a lone pathetic banana which had a bruise along the length. "Some more fruit?"

I nodded, walking towards the door and grabbing a small bag to carry the stuff in. "Sure thing mom. David, Tanya, be good for mom, kay?" I said, looking back to the kitchen table as I walked out of the door. David gave me a lively response while Taya simply nodded and returned to her oatmeal. "I'll see you guys later." I said, walking out the door and locking it behind me.

I didn't have a car. My job was close enough that I could bike there. Better for the environment and healthier. I hopped on my bike and started moving, heading to the shopping area down the hill. I already spotted the stores I needed to go to: Ruby's Shopping Center and the Book Shoppe. I shook my head as I read the sign, slowing my speed as I rolled down the hills. I spotted a billboard as I approached the active area, displaying a movie that I thought would never get a sequel: "The Odyssey: Odysseus' Return". I shook my head at the lack of originality in the entertainment world, and move into the parking lot with a bike rack.

I locked my bike in the rack and began walking to the area my destination was located. The cross roads here were rather calm, but being safe was better than being sorry. The cross walk lit up, indicating that I could move across, and I did so, joining the crowd of people heading to the same destination. Looking around, there were some cute girls amongst them, but a pretty face wasn't all that mattered From the way they were talking about guys at their college, it felt like a bad idea to ask any of them out on a date.

I break away from the crowd and head to the store, grabbing the milk and a few fruit that looked good. After doing so, I entered the book store to browse a bit. It was a cool day, so I wasn't worried about the milk spoiling.

I looked around, skipping all of the books I already had. "Underworld King, My Life as a Gelatinous Mob, Revenge of the Fallen Hero, Three Piece..." I then spotted an odd looking book, picking it out and reading the title.

"The Seven Heavenly Heroes? Never heard anything about this on the forums..." I said, opening the book to see an illustration of seven blank figures with specific weapons. There was a Sword, a Bow, a Spear, a Staff, a Hammer, a Shield and a Gauntlet. I flipped through the book a bit, learning about each hero and his heavenly attribute. "The shield and the gauntlet aren't really weapons though..." I commented, flipping through the pages.

I'll sum up what the plot was about: This planet, Calrinthia was under threat from something called the Dark Swarms, and they summoned seven heroes to hold the Heavenly Weapons. The Sword hero was strong willed and diligent in defeating his foes, the Shield hero was kind and cared for his friends, so on and so fourth. Its like the weapons were based on Christian mythos, and how there were seven deadly sins, there were also seven heavenly virtues. I had a feeling as the story went on, the counterparts would come up. Closing the book, I checked the price, ad it was relatively cheap for a book this size. It was as thick as a college textbook! "Man, what a steal! I'll buy this baby." I said to myself, walking to the checkout and offering cash. It was all the cash I had on my, but I had already bought the food, so I wasn't worried. If I needed more, I'd hit up an ATM.

Walking out of the store and back to the cross walk, I spotted a beauty: soft dark skin, curly black hair, nice figure. She looked up at me when I moved next to her and gave me a kind smile. Here eyes were such a beautiful blue, it was like looking into a ocean. She moved her lips and said good morning, but I was too shocked to say anything and simply nodded. She turned back to look at her phone, ear pieces placed in her ears. She was something else, someone I would like to get to know more about. I was still star struck when the walk way lit up, and she began walking. It was oly when I heard the honk of a semi that I was brought back to reality.

I turned my head to look up the hill, seeing a truck barreling down towards the cross roads. I then saw the woman, who must have been blasting music to not hear the hunk of junk coming down with no sign of stopping. I ran forward, the shape of the truck growing larger in my peripheral vision, and shoved the girl out of the way, pushing her to the sidewalk just in time for the truck to reach me.

Looking at the girl, I saw as the panic spread through her face, her beautiful features taking a grim turn. I looked past her and back up the hill, spotting my house amongst the sea of houses.

"Forgive me, family...."

The End.

Or so I thought.

After feeling Truck-kun tap me, if felt like I was in a void. I was floating in the vast emptiness, and couldn't feel a thing.

Save for an odd sensation. My right hand felt like it was covered by something.

Then, my vision filled with light and I winced as I was blinded.
