When Kathleen returned home yesterday, she had given the children the news that they would be dining with their father the following day, and since she heard the news, Eleanor was beside herself with excitement.
She could hardly sleep last night and chatted with her brother till late in the night, until their mother who had woken up in the middle of the night to drink some water saw that they were still awake and forced them to sleep.
Despite sleeping so late, she still woke up very early. She rushed to her brother's room to wake him up.
If there was any day in her life that Eleanor didn't want to go to school it was today. She felt it was a total waste of the precious time she would have spent with her father.
But she had no choice as it was. Even when she pleaded with their mother last night that they should skip school, she refused without any room for argument.
