CHAPTER 6

Olu was dressing , coping his hair when his mother came out from her room wore the traditional cloth called Akara with a brown hand bag. Olu was the only son of his mother, it is him and his mother that are living together.

"Am going to shop" His mother said.

"Okay, me too am going out" he said.

"To where?" She faced back.

"I want to go and buy cloth for Joyce to use on her birthday" he answered.

"Which day is that?"

"On Saturday, that is next tomorrow".

"So if i don't asked you will not tell me"

"Oh!!! My God, am sorry mom, i forgot to tell you"

"When i come back from shop, i will give you something to give it to her as birthday gift"

"Okay mom, i will"

"Bye son take care"

"Mummy! Mummy!! Wait a minute please"

"Yes, what is it?"

"Where is my food?"

"In the kitchen, ask the maid to set your table"

"Okay Mom bye ma"

The housemaid ran to the kitchen to set his table after finished setting it;, he sat on the chair eating. She went to the kitchen to clean it up when phone ringing.

"Hello my Love" Joyce said.

"How are you my love" Olu said.

"Am good, very fine"

"How is Mummy and Daddy?"

"They are all fine in good health"

"My regard to them, is your cloth that i want to go and buy now"

"Okay, Mom have go to shop?"

"Yes just now"

"Do you tell her that Saturday is my birthday"

"Yes, i told her"

"Okay bye my regard to her"

"Okay, bye thank you for calling"

He stood up put the phone in his pocket and calling the housemaid. She ran out from the kitchen.

"Yes sir am here"

"I Am going now lock the door"

"Okay sir, take care"

His mother own a big shop that she was selling provisions, she was the only one sending his son to school. Olu and Joyce are in final year in university and Joyce family knew him as her friend.

The maid was washing movie after finished cooking the food that they will eat in the afternoon, door open and close Olu's mother just arrived from shop, the maid collected her hand bag.

"Welcome ma" she greeted

"How are you?"

"Am fine ma".

"Where is my son"

"He have not be back"

"He left home by which time?"

"Nine clock in the morning ma"

"He suppose to be back by now, Okay set my table"

"Okay ma" she went to her room. Door opened; Olu entered saw the maid seting the table.

"Welcome sir" she greeted.

"Mummy have back, i saw her car"

"Yes sir, just now"

"You are back" his mother said coming from her room.

"Yes Mom"

"Why did you come late?" Sat on the chair.

"I went to my friend's house that is why"

"But you don't tell me that you are going to your friend's house"

"Am sorry mom, he called me that is why i went there"

"Okay, no problem"

"Ma, i have set your table"

"We are coming right now" Olu said.

"After eating i will give you the gift that you will give to Joyce"

"Okay mom"

Both went to dining room and sat chair eating, after finished eating there house maid took the plate to the dish washer and cleaned up the kitchen.

"Mummy, look at this cloth how is it"

"Wow!! It look beautiful"

"I bought it for Joyce for her birthday"

"It nice even i love it, let me go and bring the gift"

"Okay mom" she went to her room and came back after some minutes sat on the chair.

"This is it, help me to give it to her"

"What is this?" Using his hand to feel it.

"Just give it to her"

"Let me tear it and see"

"Don't tear it, what it is your own"

"I will wrap it back mom"

"I said don't tear it, do as i said"

"Okay Mom, am sorry"

"Tell her that I say Happy Birthday"

"Okay mom, I will"

"I need to rest and tomorrow i will travel"

"To where mom?" He asked

"To get some goods to my shop"

"Why don't you send your agent?"

"I don't like the one that he bought for me last time"

"It good to see what you want to buy by yourself"

"Yes my son, is true"

"Okay mom, which day will you come back"

"On Saturday my son"

"Okay mom" she went to her room, Olu lay on the chair washing movie with maid.
