{Riley's POV}
After sleeping for a long while, I opened my eyes to find Madison seated next to me.
"Thank God you are still alive, I was so worried but am now relieved." She smiled.
"What do you want?. If you don't mind please leave." I was too furious to talk with her.
"I sincerely apologize for all the injuries I've inflicted on you. It's not my fault, I was forced to do this. Believe me." She frowned.
"Forced?. I don't believe you. The look on your face back on stage says otherwise."
"Well, you know. My mother gave me a necklace and it's all that I have left of her. But my dad took it away from me, so I'm doing everything to make him give that necklace back to me. It means the world to me and I know you don't understand how it feels to lose your mother. I don't know if she is dead, alive, or tortured day and night by my evil father."
I was a little angry with her at first but after all the things she said about her mother, I couldn't stay mad at her forever.
"I tried to talk to you after your treatment but you just slept off so I waited for you to wake up because I didn't want to bother you."
"Madison, am still mad at you a little but you said that this place was built to imprison you So you were lying to me all along?."
"Well, I wasn't lying. We just didn't have a lot of time to talk. So that's why I skipped out some parts but I'll gladly fill you in on everything you need and want to know."
"Tell me everything."
"Well, this building is a betting area by cover. I mean that the real purpose of this building is to lock people up and serve the purpose of the Miapytes but my dad introduced it to the world as a betting area. It's just an undercover."
"I already told you that my father is a priest of the Miapytes and in addition, he is rich and loves to sparkle in the spotlight. As the Oracle of Goddess Imari, I only see things that the goddess wants me to see. My father would then compel it out of me. It's like we are in the middle of all this, I mean the war between Goddess Imari and Miapytes."
"So you don't know why I am being locked up?."
"That I cannot say because I don't know." She tried to sound as polite as possible.
I was hoping she would at least tell me something but am not discouraged yet. I would still ask her more questions.
"I think my dad has other purposes for you that has to do with the gem."
"Me?. The gem?. I think he's got the wrong girl. How am I connected to the gem?."
"Riley, I have to go." Madison left the room.
Was she avoiding that question?. She seemed troubled, something is really going on and I need to find out. Cobra's deep voice jarred my thoughts.
"What is your friendship with the king's Abelardo's daughter?." Cobra's voice ranged out like a roar.
So the owner of this building Abelardo is referred to as the king?.
"That has nothing to do with you." I regretted those words immediately they came out of my lips.
Cobra got up from his bed after removing the needles that were inserted into his system. His wolf eyes were staring daggers at me.
Oh my God, how could I have said that?. I haven't recovered, and if Cobra were to do anything to hurt me even more, I might never fully recover. I was trembling like a bird in a storm. He walked fiercely to my bed and just as he prepared to strike, he suddenly lost consciousness.
My two eyes were already tightly shut. I was prepared to receive any physical attack but nothing happened. I courageously opened one of my eyes but it met the face of a handsome boy with the biggest smile. A syringe was in his hand. I later learned that he injected an effective sleeping liquid into Cobra's body which immediately put him to sleep. This handsome boy is my hero.
"Hi, my name is Abiri, may I know yours?."
"I'm Riley and thank you for saving me." I couldn't thank him enough.
"Oh, that was nothing but that means you are in debted to me." He feigned a sad expression but a bright smile immediately occupied his face. "No worries, you'll just have to pay me then. Not in cash, you know what I mean."
"I think I do." Madison's voice sounded from the door. She cast a glance towards Abiri as she walked in. "Riley, I see you have met my childhood friend, Abiri. He can be soo overbearing sometimes but you can't be sad around him, he'll always find a way to cheer you up. He was the life of this building back in the days. At least, he made me feel that I'm not alone." Madison smiled as she led us down the memory lane. I saw a kind of emotion in her eyes but it vanished quickly.
"I'll take my leave right after I take care of this big guy." Abiri said as he grabbed Cobra's unconscious body.
"I believe you'll need assistance with that," Madison said.
"Well, I think I do. But you know that I am capable of carrying Cobra all on my own."
Madison carried Cobra by herself despite Abiri's attempt to help. She then placed Cobra on the bed with his wrists and legs tied up so that he won't be much of a trouble when he wakes up.
Just then, a maid entered with blond hair pulled back into a bun hairstyle and her lips were painted crimson. The atmosphere was tense because of how well-groomed, serious, and controlling she appeared. From the look of things, she might be the head maid. She would also be a serious person who rarely smiles.
"Riley, get up and follow me." She turned around immediately after talking. I'm not sure why, but I felt forced to follow her because of her authoritative tone. She appeared to be in her mid-forties, yet she still had a stunning appearance. Even though her outfit displays a certain level of decency, her figure eight stood out gallantly. She was the first maid I've ever encounter to be so haughty.
Who am I to disobey her orders?. I'm no difference from a maid around here since am being held captive. Meaning I have to obey everyone including a bossy maid like her.
"I believe you are going to meet my father. Anything that happens just act humorous and hysterically strict at the same time. Avoid making fear your closest companion." Madison whispered in my ear.
Well, her advice might be useful so I'll just have to use it to my own advantage.
Get it together girl. Be brave, strict, and witty. Don't be swept away by fear in the presence of anyone. I think I am capable of handling that. I muttered to myself.
There was absolute stillness between the maid and I as we and our way down the hallway. We kept on walking, and after what felt like twenty minutes of continuous walking, my legs finally gave out. I've only just survived Madison's physical attack. Am I really going to pass out from walking?. And it appears that everyone had already adapted to the walking but am new here so it will take a while for me to get used to such a long walk. In addition, am not anticipating on staying here for long. Am coming up with a strategy to get the hell out of here.
