The Elements of Existence

Existence is an endless contradiction. It is a formation of cycles within cycles. It is where chaos and order overlap, indistinguishable from each other. It is the culmination of the elements of existence. As an unseen cycle comes to an end, It cries out for salvation. It cries for its continuation. The cataclysmic result of one cycle's end spurs another to action. This is the story of cycles that refuse to end. The cover art is not mine. Chapter 0 - A Cycle

Have you ever thought about the underlying theme of existence? Maybe you've thought of the reason behind everything. Or maybe, you've thought of why you're alive. Maybe you've thought of why you feel miserable at one moment and overjoyed at the next. Even if only once, many have had a thought of why things are the way they are.

It's a cycle. Everything follows an interconnected cycle. A cycle where chaos and order overlap as it plays out. There is an order to chaos, yet there is chaos within order. It is simply a cycle.

Waking up in the morning, eating, brushing your teeth, going to school or work, returning home, sleeping, and waking up again. Yet, ever so slightly, the things that are done everyday change. A cycle that follows chaos? Or is it order? A good question.

In the first place, order and chaos aren't any different from each other. Whether something is chaotic or orderly depends on how it is perceived by someone. It's like light and darkness intertwined; two halves that must exist in tandem.

Even in living it exists. To live means you are dying until you take your last breath. You are constantly running out of time. Which begets the question…Is the cycle endless? Does the cycle repeat until infinity? Or does it end at some point?

Truly a pointless question. A question for which the answer is best left a mystery. The cycle of life should be appreciated. It is a cycle of constant suffering. A cycle where one suffers until they draw their last breath, but for brief periods, the suffering stops. These moments are the reason people endure this torture, moments where one is happy.

Misery comes hand in hand with joy. These are the two main elements of the cycle of life. Many believe that the amount of misery you receive is supposed to be equal to the amount of joy you receive, yet many would refute this claim from experience.

When you think of order and chaos, light and darkness, they make up a whole. If light exists, darkness will take up the rest of the space, forming a whole. Maybe it is the same for misery and joy. If only a fixed amount of joy and misery exist, someone has to have less for you to have more, don't you think? Yet actively seeking misery for others will not bring you happiness. But for there to be a winner, a loser must exist.

Quite frankly, this may be because happiness is the lesser of the whole. If light is used as an example, then we can see that light cannot encompass the entire whole. In every gap, in every unoccupied space, darkness will exist. It is much easier for more darkness to exist because there is simply not enough light to take over the majority of the whole. Maybe it is similar. Due to a lack of joy, misery fills the gaps where it doesn't exist, but because the amount of joy is determined, someone gaining joy results in someone else losing it.

"It really is just a cycle, huh?"

This is my first real novel so I'm sure there are gonna be flaws, which I will try to fix. This book will be completely free until I deem my writing worthy of monetization. Most likely, I will not monetize this book with the most being patron(Unless I win the competition0, so just come along for the ride and I'll do my best to make this story as awesome as possible. I will release 5 chapters every week and maybe some bonus.

Also, please note that this world and the theories are fiction. It's sad but I actually have to say this.
