Chapter 29: One Last Conversation
Birdy stepped into the restaurant Dale had made the reservation at and blinked in surprise. She couldn't remember the last time he had taken her anywhere this fancy. Luckily, she was appropriately dressed in a sheath dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline and some heels. She'd put on a minimal amount of makeup because she hadn't really cared much about impressing Dale.
He had tried to come and pick her up from her apartment but she didn't want him in her space again. Birdy had insisted on meeting him at the restaurant, it was a bonus that she could avoid any awkward conversations if she changed her mind at the last minute.
"Good evening, ma'am," the hostess greeted her with a smile. "Welcome to Delano's."
"Hi," Birdy smiled, feeling slightly anxious now that she was here. "I'm here to meet someone."
The hostess nodded and gave Birdy a knowing smile. "He let me know to expect you soon. Please come with me."
