Chapter 15

Today is the day.

Alpha and his family have gone to Elvira for business, leaving Anka in charge of the pack. Besides that, everything carries on as normal.

The plan is simple. Jackson is watching the cameras while I have tea with Anka, and Jax builds some minor explosives in the schoolhouse. It’s not a school day, so the pups are all playing outside.

A quick breath to calm my nerves is all the preparation I allow myself before knocking on Anka’s office door.

“Ellie!” She opens the door with a genuine smile. “I’m so glad you could make it. Please, come in.”

I smile and nod politely, following directions. No urge to heave up breakfast. So far, so good.
