His fingers, firm but teasing, gripped her waist, pulling her against his body. “Do you know what happens to those who defy me, little pet?” His voice was low, dripping with dark amusement. He leaned down, his lips hovering just above hers, close enough for her to feel his breath but not close enough to touch. “They beg.”Elysia’s pulse quickened, her breath catching as her body betrayed the fear melting into something far more dangerous. Her lips parted, but no words came out. "You're mine, Elysia, I will burn the world for you." She heard him say in a low growl, making her legs tremble more.

Mockery Of The King

Back In The Palace

"What is your conclusion on the matter, Sev? Do you think the man was telling the truth or he simply was seeking attention?" Azreal inquired, lightly tapping his fingers on his thigh.

"I do not know, Your Majesty," Sevastian began, his gaze fixed on the trees swaying outside the window. "Perhaps we should observe him for a while. I could place an informant to watch him closely, then determine if he speaks the truth."

"Hmm, perhaps we could do." Azreal replied, agreeing with Sevastian on the matter. The carriage made way through the gates and into the palace.

When the carriage came to a halt, the footman opened the carriage door, waiting for Azreal to climb down. Azreal climbed down the carriage and Sevastian followed behind, his eyes immediately narrowing as he noticed the tension in the atmosphere.
