Mr. Derek Cage

Selly squealed, putting her hand in her mouth in surprise. "Derek Cage? Oh my God, no fucking way!"

Her eyes were wide open as she expected more explanations from Margaret.

Margaret nodded. "Tis him. Soon, his marriage contract will end, and he wants to try again."

"So, he didn't get what he wanted. That's sad for whoever that lady is." Shelly said arrogantly.

Margaret sighed and sat down. "I was able to schedule a meeting with him and I told him I'll give him one of my daughters if he can help Bloom construction get back on his feet but he declined. I begged him to at least give us a chance, assured him it'll be worth it and he nodded his head and gave us a chance. We'll be going to him tomorrow."

Shelly smiled and nodded. "Then I don't mind being the person you're marrying off."

"You know it won't last, right? Just a year contract." Taylor made it known.

Shelly looked at her. "I will be different, Taylor. He wants someone he can fall in love with, and I will be that person. The one to stay in his life forever."

Ashley mentally scoffed, bending her head. "I'm sure every girl thought that way." She muttered to herself.

Shelly looked at her, hearing her murmuring. "What the hell are you saying?"

Ashley looked up at her. "Nothing. I'm just glad Margaret took care of it."

Shelly scoffed and looked at her mom. "I really can't wait, mom. You'll be marrying me off."

"You've heard how the man is, Shelly. He's indifferent toward people and has an isolated life, and people don't even know much about his life cause the press doesn't dare publish anything about it after what he did to one of the companies. Are you sure you want that kind of a mysterious person for a husband?" Taylor questioned worriedly.

Margaret was also worried but at that moment, she didn't care. As long as the man is not a killer, then it's fine by her so she stood up and gave Shelly a serious gaze. "You're sure you can make him fall in love 'cause you have to. I want you to permanently be a Cage. Be his wife forever and get access to everything belonging to him. Do you understand?"

Shelly smirked and nodded. "I won't fail you, mom."

Derek closed his eyes shut, holding a file in his hands since he was getting distracted by the incessant disturbance going on outside his office.

He was hearing it all due to his enhanced hearing. His newly ex-contract wife tried to make a fuss and it annoyed him.

He slammed the file on his hands on the desk in anger and relaxed on his chair, thinking of how long he was gonna keep on with this marriage contract of a thing.

Thinking of when he was gonna find whoever that girl is that's gonna ignite the beating of his heart.

If only he knew he was gonna end up this way. Those witches find a way to permanently banish him from his home.

He kept thinking about what he did wrong but he couldn't come up with anything.

They were right though cause there was no one meant for him. He was cursed and will be cursed forever.

He chuckled, knowing a century ago, he didn't give a damn about love. All he did was mess up with women, he never ever cared about having a woman or a queen by his side.

But now, he's getting married to different women, each for a year just to find the one that can make him fall in love. The one that can make his heart beat again.

No one is qualified. No one.

His door opened and he opened his eyes. He saw it was his secretary, breathing heavily and looking stressed out, a seductive lady he has also tried to see if he could fall for but couldn't. "Is she gone?"

Marie nodded. "Yes, sir. For now, though. That's one crazy woman."

Derek looked away.

"Are you...are you gonna try again, sir? It's a new year so it's expected..."

"For one, it's none of your fucking business." He harshly uttered with his deep, husky voice and looked at her. "And two, have you scheduled my meeting with the Moores?"

Marie nodded, mentally hitting herself and wondering why she still hasn't gotten used to his heartless cold voice. "Yes, sir. Tomorrow by 2 pm. I've informed Mrs. Moore about it."

"Then you can leave." He dismissed her with a hard tone then made her immediately bob her head like a chicken and she walked out.

The day came to an end and he arrived at the dimly lit, cold concrete underground garage where he parked his car.

He stopped in his track and looked at the familiar woman standing in front of him. He gave her a frown but kept quiet still.

She smiled at him and glanced at the friend she brought with her. "I've been trying to see you, hubby..."

"What did you say?"

The other girl flinched at the cold, deep voice even though she was not the one he was facing. The way he sounded and looked, he was so damn intimidating.

"I called you my hubby, Mr. Cage. You're my husband, I... I want you back, I love you." She confessed in an emotional way like she was about to cry then and there.

Derek stared at her for a while with a hardened gaze and facial expression. At that moment, he could do anything to get her off his sight. "Is that all?"

The other friend gasped in disbelief and as she was about to say something, the girl held her back.

"What?" The girl replied since she was also in shock at his reply. It felt like they never stayed together for close to a year.

"Tell me, Miss Rowland, what the hell do you want?"

She gulped and sighed shakily. "I want you back. I want us to be together forever, Mr. Cage. I love you so much and if you can at least give me more than a year, I know you'll love me too."

The girl was on the verge of breaking down. All she wanted was him and it doesn't matter to her if he felt no remorse toward her feeling that moment. She just needed another chance.

"We're done." He uttered nonchalantly without any ounce of care or trace of warmth in his tone.

"What?" She blurted out again, her face contorted.

"I won't repeat myself."

The friend scoffed. "What the hell am I seeing? After her long confession, and her emotional breakdown, you're still this way toward her? What kind of a heartless person are you? You can't even soften your voice a bit, just that at least. Talking to her with that menacing tone of yours like you're disgusted by her."

All the while, the girl tried to stop her friend from talking. She looked back at Derek. "I'm so sorry."

"I thought you were smart but you're dumb. Our contract is over, you weren't able to give me what I want." It seemed as if his voice was automatically cold.

The girl shook her head. "I just need a chance. More time. I love you so please don't neglect me. I could eventually make you fall in love with me if you could just give me a chance. Please." The girl desperately begged.

"Yet again I've wasted my time on a girl." He looked at the friend. "I suggest you take your friend out of my sight and get it in her head that we're done."

The lady gulped at his intimidating gaze and dragged her friend. "Let's go."

"No!"

She dragged her with force. "Let's get out of here. You've embarrassed us enough."

The girl cried shamelessly and was dragged away by her friend.

Derek clicked the remote button of his car, heard the sound, and saw the flash of his headlights and he walked toward it.

He got into his car and drove off.
