(A quick summary. Just facts of the past 17 years. Chapter one begins after. This doesn't provide anything other than facts about the main character. The way it's written is so you are up to date with the story in the sixth kingdom.)
17 years past by so fast for Maya. She was getting older and her body finally was taking a toll on her. She managed to escaped to the sixth kingdom and began working in a village raising the young Layla.
Layla was named by Maya. It was the name she had planned to name her very own daughter and the small infant child took that role in Mayas heart. Layla would grow up happy and was raised in a very simple life. She was taught with morals and reason.
The ruthless king of the first kingdom never cared much for finding the little girl but eventually find out about the affair of the guardsman touching one of his women. His rage was shown when he pubically dismembered, drowned, and burned the two to their deaths. It was brutal and eventually news reached other kingdoms. He was currently fighting a war with the King of the second kingdom. But it was only the beginning of the war. Which if you know about politics, they first try all methods possible before losing their men to the sword. It was about the time where he began his mission of ruling with absolute power.
Maya was able to play a part of a beggar woman so she could move across the lands. She made her way with Layla to the sixth kingdom knowing they were safer there. All the lands had cruel kings, but nothing like King Nicholas. She tried her best to stay out of the public eye and stressed that Layla stay away from the castle life as well. All the kingdoms had their fair share of issues regarding their rulers, but this kingdom was perhaps the most moral. She eventually gained work at a bakery while raising the child. During the time the child development characteristics of love and a positive outlook on her simple life. She was brought up knowing her past since Maya decided no secrets would be kept between the two but Maya helped her focus on her future since the past could not define her. Saddened by what happened to her parents, Layla grew close to Maya and often looked toward her as her confidant. She looked an awful lot like her father. She had dark brown hair with dark green eyes. Her defining jaw line was so unique and added to her beauty. She grew up self conscious because of this defining feature, but even in rags, she was an incredible sight! Many in the village noticed her and secretly envied everything about the child, but she wasn't casted out due to jealousy. In fact, many grew to love the girl. She was feisty, but ultimately extremely kind. She put others first always. Even though she grew up with simple clothes in a simple life, she was quite a striking girl. She indeed was beautiful.
Since Layla's mother disgraced the king and ruined the chance for him to gain complete power according to prophecies, he was extremely busy the past years of her life. He approached many more people with abilities to guide his path for his mission, but because of the sixth wife's mistake, he was not able to have the sixth son. He had numerous mistresses but failed to conceive any more children.
It seemed as though he decided to continue without the sixth son even though he was warned that without the sixth son, he would not be able to have the strength to conquer what he wanted. And it also showed that perhaps the loyalty of the sons wouldn't be as strong toward him. The Ruthless King didn't listen and decided no one could decide his destiny. He didn't seemed worried that even his own children at this point may not give him sole loyalty.
The man began to come up with different strategies to achieve his goals. He's deeds were known to disgust many among the land.
But life was about to change for not only the ruthless King, but the way the future would continue for all. And all because a girl was born instead of the son he hoped for.
