The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 42:

Lyra's POV:

"hello Lyra" the hooded lady greeted.

After what the queen told me, I had spent the whole day in my room and only came out when it was time for dinner.

Everything happened so fast and I wish it was all a dream.

I wasn't ready to become anyone's protector; I couldn't even protect myself from anything.

How was I meant to maintain peace just like my mother?

I don't even know how to fight; all I do is run.

"Lyra I said hello" the hooded lady said again snapping me out of my daze and I looked at her with round eyes.

She wrapped one arm around my shoulder and I could almost see her eyes under her hood.

"talk to me. What's the matter" her voice was gentle.

"I suddenly feel pressured to be the Khamatu; a month ago I didn't even know who or what that was but here I am! I'm expected to be like my mother; as powerful as her but…I don't think that's possible. She had the strength of five different creatures including witches! She had magic on her side and was good at combat"

From what I heard.

"but I don't know anything about magic at all. What am I going to do?"

The hooded lady was silent for a while before speaking to me again.

"I knew your mother personally, she was brave, kind and stubborn as a bull. Elaka grew up here, in this city that she created. She believed she could save everyone and no one should live in fear. Your mother wanted to create a perfect world but shortly after she had you, she was killed"

"she had it easy! She didn't go through growing up with almost nothing and stealing to get through every day. Not to mention watching your relative…or guardian die in your arms and getting kidnapped and working as a slave for vampires and suffering in the hands of a king who used me as a rag"

Memories of everything I went through in the castle was the last thing I wanted to think about.

"she might not have gone through that but she had to leave her family and stop a war! Her family didn't want your kind to come out of hiding because your people were seen as an abomination by those who knew about your existence. Your mother learned combat as a form of self-defense and learnt magic to help around. She wasn't born or destined to be the Khamatu but she chose to"

"how am I meant to believe you? I know you've helped me a lot and I'm grateful but I've never even seen your face before"

Her hand slowly left my shoulder and was by her sides.

"well I think it's time you saw my face, since you know a bit about your heritage" her hands were on her hood.

But I felt myself slipping away.

Then I woke up.

Why was it the very moment when I was going to see her face that someone had to knock?

It came again and I grumbled, getting down from the bed and opening the door.

It was one of the servants.

She looked just as timid and shy as I was when I became a personal slave.

"everyone is at the breakfast table and await you. Here, everyone eats breakfast and dinner together; no exceptions, miss" her voice was just as small as her.

"thank you I'll be right down" I closed the door before sighing.

I sat quietly while everyone was happily talking over breakfast.

Seems like they all had something to say.

"Lyra are you ok?" the king asked drawing everyone's attention to me making me want to shrink.

"well your highness, I'm honored to be the Khamatu and yet I'm tense and not sure I'm ready" I said silently.

"how do you mean child?"

"well, I don't know anything about combat or magic neither does any of my friends. We might end up getting ourselves killed"

He exchanged glances with his wife who simply nodded her head.

"well seeing that your friend is a witch she will have to learn as well and from today you shall join my children in training. Imogen, Rayhan, Jackie is that ok with you?"

"of course it is. New victims to practice on" Imogen smiled.

"go easy on them Tiger. You don't want the Khamatu to lose an arm" Jaja commented and I laughed.

Eri seemed a bit excited about learning magic and maybe it would be fun.

When breakfast was over, I walked straight up to my room only to find something like a dress on my bed.

It looked like what Jackie and Imogen wore when I saw them spar for the first time.

Oh no!

Don't tell me

"oh yes. Since you want to train with us you'll have to dress like our warriors" the Jackal leaned on the door frame.

"Jackal!" I didn't want her to go all out on me like she did on Sam when he called her by name

"please…call me Jackie" she smiled slightly…

Now for the thing I dread the most…action scenes
