"What do you intend to do?" Natalia asked when Whitney followed her outside the hospital. She was worried about her friend.
"I dont know," Whitney answered honestly. She could have gone to see Kevin Smart, but she was afaird her siblings would be thrown into foster care the moment she left. Moreover, she was unsure if the devil would agree to her request. It was said that when he made a decision, no one could change it.
"I talked to my father. He said that the devil never drags the family members of the traitor into his anger. It seems whatever your father did must have almost cost his life, or perhaps, someone dead," Natalie said. Her father did not work with Smart cooperation, but he knew a few people. To live a peaceful life, one has to have some basic knowledge.
" It's a dead end no matter what," Whitney shook her head. She thought about Kevin Smart when she met him. It felt good that he did not end their life at that moment, but there was really nothing to look for ahead. Natalie wanted to say something, but after opening her mouth a few times, she kept quiet.
"I will bring dinner later, you must remember to take care of yourself," Natalie advised.
"No, the neighbourhood is not so safe, I will get food from the hospital cafeteria," Whitney disagreed. It was already a miracle that Natalie did not distance herself from her, fearing the chance of getting implicated.
"Alright," Natalie agreed. She knew her friend would not get anything good to eat in the hospital, but she did not want to make her worried.
"You have t keep an eye on Gracey, I fear she would make another attempt," Natalie said after some thought. Whitney could tell that much from her interaction.
"Also, did the doctor clean her system?" Natalie asked. She was most worried that Gracey would get pregnant from the incident.
"Yes, the nurse told me about it. The doctor also said they had evidence if we wanted to sue," Whitney replied.
"Alright then, you should hurry back," Natalie hugged her before walking away. Kelly had refused to return, with her insisting that he wanted to stay with his sisters. Although the hospital is not a place, Kelly should be Whitney had no choice. Natail was still living with her parents, so she (Whitney) was not sure if they were comfortable taking care of Kelly, especially since the warmer family was under the radar of the devil.
....
"Natalie," Someone called as soon as she walked into her neighbourhood. Natalie turned, she was familiar with the voice.
"Rachel," Natalie called. The two of them could not be said to be friends. They had attended the same school and could be considered classmates at most.
"You are still haggling out with Whitney. Are you not scared of getting implicated in her mess?" Rachel raised her brows. Natalie was not surprised to hear those words from her. After all, for some reason, Rachel had never liked Whitney.
" What do you mean implicated? Whitney is my friend, and I can not stay away from her simply because she is in trouble," Natalie said. Her parents did not stop her, and even if they did, she would have felt guilty.
When Rachel heard this, she frowned and balled her hand into a fist. She hated Whitney because she had stolen her best friend. Before the warmers moved into the neighbourhood, She and Natalie were friends, but after their family moved in, Natalie became closer to her(Whitney).
She thought that now that Whitney was in trouble, she could finally make Natalie regret her decision back then. She did not expect to heae this answer.
"You are willing to sacrifice your life for her," Rechel said. She did not believe it. No matter what, no one could love others more than themselves.
"Stop saying nonsense, Whitney family only owes the devil money. How can that cost my life," Natalie argued. She was scared that if she did not say this, people with evil intentions would take advantage of the situation and make life more difficult for them.
"What if she set you up or those people mistake you for her sister? I heard that she and her sister would be thrown into the ring to earn the money her father owes," Rechel said.
"I don't think that is possible. The devil knows what the warmer girls look like. How can they mistake me for her? As for Whitney setting me up, she is not such a person," Natalie argued. She knew Whitney was loyal there was no need for her fear.
"Whatever, don't regret it if you meet misfortune because of them," Rechel said and walked away. She hated Whitney more. To her, such a great friend like Natalie has been snatched away.
It was all Whitney's fault. Fortunately, she would soon meet a fate worse than death. Rechel went over to meet her friend, Lucy and Shelley.
"Why is your face like that?" Lucy asked.
"Nothing, I just met some disgusting face," Rechel replied. Her feelings towards Natalie were also complicated. She likes her but hates her for making a new friend and forgetting an old friend.
"Natalie," the two friends said.
"Don't call her name," Rechel shook her head. She felt that it would only hurt her feelings. The two friends did not continue to talk about it.
"I heard Gracey got missing from a party a few days ago," Shelley said.
"Is that so," Rechel asked. She was happy to hear any bad news regarding Whitney.
"Yeah, I heard she tried to commit suicide," Shelley answered. She knew that this piece of news would make her friend happy
"Why?" Lucy looked at Shelley.
"How do I know? My younger sister just talked about her going missing at a classmate's party. Later, Whitney reported that she was in the hospital. Maybe she is scared of being thrown into the ring," Shelley shook her head. No one knew what had really happened.
Sandra's family tried to keep the news tight. After all, it was not good if someone got missing from their house. In the future, parents will be scared to allow their children to attend parties at their home.
"It's no wonder Natalie was helping her take care of her baby brother," Rechel said. The more she thought about how nice Natalie was treating Whitney, the more annoyed she was.
"Do you think she would make another attempt after this?" Lucy asked.
"What does that have to do with us," Rechel did not care about anything related to Whitney except it was bad news.
