Chapter 98

“Julien, are you quite well?” Leander asked, even as he returned the embrace.

“I believe I’m supposed to ask that of you.” Julien drew back just enough to give him a quick kiss on the forehead and then the lips. “I assure you that my staff will see that Rand is provided every comfort.” He stepped back and began retying Leander’s cravat. “Let us go and see to that now. Have you any luggage?”

“One trunk,” Leander replied. Taking his cue from Julien, he began buttoning his waistcoat.

“I’ll have it brought to the room next to mine.” Julien kissed away the slight frown that appeared on Leander’s face. “You can’t possibly believe that’s where you’ll be sleeping, can you?”

Leander’s flush deepened, but he returned the kiss.

Julien kept his hand on Leander’s back as they left the library. Lennox was at his usual post in the front hall. “Lennox, see to it that Mr. Mayfield’s horses are stabled and that his coachman is given a good meal and a comfortable place for the night.”
