Leander ignored the tiny but persistent sense of unease that was beginning to develop. “There’s no need for concern,” he said again. “I’m in absolutely no danger from Blackstone.”

“That may very well be,” Morleigh said, although he looked dubious. “But I wouldn’t be comfortable unless I’d said my piece and urged caution.”

“I do appreciate it,” Leander said. He agreed with Morleigh up to a point. It might be wise to move more carefully. Not that he thought for a moment that his life was in danger from Julien, but his heart certainly was. As for Morleigh’s concern, Leander had his doubts to its authenticity. Despite his cousin’s words to the contrary, Leander suspected this visit had been based on Julien’s interest in men. Perhaps Morleigh’s real concern was for the reputation of the Dearborne title. “I’ll do my best to be careful.”
