“Of course,” Julien nodded. “I wouldn’t want to be the reason that you fail to complete the task Lady Penelope has assigned you.”

Lady Penelope actually looked a bit disconcerted. “Forgive me, Lord Dearborne, I can sometimes be a bit—”

“Dictatorial,” Seaforth replied. He obviously enjoyed the sharp looks his fiancée continually gave him.

“Peremptory,” she finished.

Leander supposed he must have still appeared uncertain, because Julien took the essays from him. “I will bring these upstairs myself so there can be no doubt about permission.”

At the last second, Leander managed to add the essay about Lancelot and Arthur to the pile.

“Don’t stay down here too late,” Julien said to Seaforth and Lady Penelope.

After exchanging good nights with the couple, Leander followed Julien upstairs.

“Very interesting essay about King Arthur and Lancelot,” Julien said when they stopped outside Leander’s door.
