The forest was cool and quiet, but footsteps walking in the forest could be heard amid the noises of birds and the river. The man, in a neat but black hanbok, was the one walking, with his hands clasped behind his back as he moved through the forest, a slight devilish smile on his beautiful lips. He was walking, looking for his prey - someone whose soul he could lure and claim. He was the demon. ————- "You can't love that feeble human, you know? It's best you eliminate her, take her soul, get the book back, and quit being so feeble over that useless human." The pretty middle-aged lady scolded the young, handsome demon standing before her. "Demon mother, I've told you, my powers don't work on her no matter what. I don't even understand love, so how do you expect me to love that insignificant person? I just have to play along with her to get the book. Stop irritating me with your words. I'm leaving." The demon responded arrogantly and walked away. He's a demon who thrives on taking souls to enhance his power and longevity. Despite being born in the 2nd century, he never aged. Handsome, cold, arrogant, and powerful, he excels at tempting humans and making them fall for him completely. He lures mortals by offering them their deepest desires, only to return after fifteen years to claim their souls as payment. But how did this demon end up falling in love with a human, someone he considered insignificant? What do you think sets this human apart that made the demon fall for her? Let's uncover what twists and turns the story holds for us.
"What is this book?" Lee Yoon Ah mumbled to herself and furrowed her brows, looking confused while she walked to the couch in her room and sat down.
Then she focused as she read the text written on the book cover in Korean; DEMON.
"What? Demon? Is this book a kind of fantasy story? Wow, I'm curious to read more. But the book looks old-fashioned, does that mean the owner of this book is an elderly person or probably an inheritance book? That person must be a writer or actor to have this kind of book to produce," Lee Yoon Ah said to herself again. She then opened the book and started reading, just then her mouth opened widely agape as she didn't understand the book anymore.
"Is this kind of a fantasy world? I can't believe this book is talking about a demon's power, I mean, full details of what the demon is like and its power. Whoa, this is crazy. Haha, I must be crazy as well for wasting time reading the book. Gosh, it's been long since I read a novel since after my school years, I've always been busy reading paperwork and files instead," Lee Yoon Ah said to herself, laughing, and talking to herself alone like a crazy woman.
"Okay, enough of this madness. But wait, who dropped the book? Could it be an elderly person who threw away the book? Huh, whatever." Yoon Ah said to herself again and placed the book neatly in a drawer and locked it.
"Right now, I'm so hungry and need to eat," she said and stood up from the couch near her bed.
"I should go to the grocery store and get some stuff and yeah, I'll just go to eat Tteokbokki, it's been a long time since I tasted that," Yoon Ah said to herself and grabbed her car keys then headed out. She walked towards her car and hopped in, then she ignited the engine and drove to a popular Tteokbokki restaurant to eat first before going to get the stuff she needed to buy in the grocery store.
She walked into the restaurant while she was typing on her phone, she walked to a seat, and her focus was still on her phone, not realizing she was sitting in front of someone who used the newspaper to cover his face, which made it look like his attention was all focused on the newspaper.
Yoon Ah finished what she was doing on her phone, she looked up and met the eyes of the man who was holding a newspaper.
"Why didn't I realize I was sitting at someone else's table? The restaurant seems so quiet," she thought and looked around, realizing there were just two people in the restaurant.
The man, whose face was blocked by the newspaper in his hands, folded the paper and turned his gaze to the young lady who was sitting in front of him.
"I booked all here," the cold-faced man, who turned out to be the demon, simply said coldly, as he had also come to eat Tteokbokki and booked the whole place to avoid noises and eyes since he hated the guts of humans.
Yoon Ah thought she had heard it wrong, so she asked, "What?" but the cold-faced demon didn't say anything and just turned his attention to call one of the staff to attend to him.
"You can't be bragging all around because you have money. I didn't even realize someone had booked all this, I just wanted to eat some Tteokbokki today, that's why I came here," Yoon Ah said and rolled her eyes annoyingly.
"You're too noisy, just eat and leave," the cold-faced demon said coldly, while the Tteokbokki was served on the table for him.
Yoon Ah's phone rang while she rolled her eyes before picking up.
"Hey, what's up?" Yoon Ah said with a slight smile, while the demon glanced at her before he started eating.
"Are you home?" The caller asked on the other end of the call.
"No, I'm out to eat. I'm tired of cooking for myself," Yoon Ah said softly.
"Where are you? I really want to meet you, right now I only want to talk to you," the caller said with a bit of a sad tone that was clearly heard in her voice.
"What's wrong? I'm out to eat Tteokbokki. I should have come out a while ago but I was busy reading a confusing book that I had picked from the floor. I think it fell off from someone, but the book is a bit complicated and confusing to understand. It actually drew my attention because 'demon' was written on the cover. So I thought it was a book I could read and enjoy, but it turned out to be…" Yoon Ah couldn't finish her sentences before her phone was snatched from her ears, causing her to look shocked at the cold-faced man who had taken the phone away from her.
She glared angrily at the man.
"Hey, what's wrong with you, this cold-faced man? Who the hell are you to snatch my phone away while I was on a call?" Yoon Ah yelled angrily and tried snatching her phone back, but she couldn't because the demon drew his hand away to the left side, preventing her from getting the phone.
"Give back the book," the demon said coldly to her, causing Yoon Ah to look at him angrily, confusion clearly in her eyes.
"What book are you talking about?" Yoon Ah said angrily with a hateful glare.
"The book you stole," the demon said coldly.
"I didn't steal any book, and how dare you accuse me? Do you know who I am?" Yoon Ah said angrily and tried snatching her phone away, but the demon's cold voice made her stop.
"The book you picked from the ground. The demon book," the demon said again coldly.
"Oh, I see. You're talking about the book? Excuse me, but who the hell are you to tell me that? You're not the owner, and you're not my boss to use that tone with me," Yoon Ah said angrily.
The demon could see that the lady he was talking to was crazy and not easy to talk to, so he softened his face.
"Can I have the book? I know the owner of the book and have been searching for it since it was lost," the demon said softly, causing Yoon Ah to snort and roll her eyes.
"Who is the owner? You're not the owner, so why do you want to have it? If you will excuse me, young man, please let me have my phone," Yoon Ah said coldly. She stood up from where she was sitting, snatched the phone angrily, grabbed her bag, and walked out of the restaurant looking furious.
"That beast, how dare he? He just spoiled my mood," she continued talking to herself while walking to her car.
She hopped into her car, ignited the engine, and drove away, taking the route back to her house. But she noticed a car following her. She thought it was the same man, so she hissed and continued driving. However, the car sped past her and doubled back, blocking her way.
She stopped her car, frowned, got out, and angrily walked to the man who had rushed out of the car to drag her forcefully and cover her nose with a white handkerchief. She tried to struggle but the grip was stronger, and she realized she was being kidnapped.
Tears fell from her eyes as she tried to lift her hand.
The unknown man ignited the engine and made a turn to drive, but the car was forcefully stopped, causing him to look confused. He tried igniting the engine again, but it didn't work.
"What the heck is wrong with this car?" the man said, then realized a tall figure was standing in front of the car. A tall figure in black.
"What the hell, who is this?" the unknown man said, stepping out of the car with a knife and aiming forward at the black-clothed man who was the demon.
"Hey, who are you? Get out of my way, or you will regret it," the man threatened, but the demon stood still and did not move.
The man angrily rushed to punch him, but he was hit by the unknown figure and flew back, hitting the car and the ground.
He groaned and tried standing to fight again with his knife, but he was kicked really hard, making him fly and land on the other end of the car.
The pain was too much for him to stand, making him pass out. Meanwhile, the demon walked to the car where Yoon Ah was locked in.
He opened the car door and looked in.
"Get out of the car," the demon said coldly to the weak Yoon Ah.
Yoon Ah tried to get out but she couldn't lift her finger or her legs.
"Please, help me out," she said weakly.
