The Demon Society Isn't So Bad

When a scientist who was on the brink of making a great revelation is killed in a lab accident at too young an age, God decides to reincarnate him in what seems to be another, less developed Earth. But the scientist soon figures out that the land beneath his feet was not that of the Earth, but Hell.

What The Hell!?

In 2008, a baby was delivered into an orphanage. He seemed to be a newborn, right out of the hospital. 2 months later, the baby started crawling around. Only a month after that, he could walk. At 6 months of age, the child could hold a conversation.

The staff that worked in the orphanage could often see the child in the "library" (if a few shelves at the corner of a room could be counted as one). He seemed to especially enjoy the few books there on science and mathematics.

At the age of 5, when most children would only start enrolling in kindergarten, the child, James McArthur, became a student of a private school for the gifted and started taking lessons meant for high school. He became famous as he participated in multiple tournaments, almost all of which he won.

As James grew, so did his intellect. At the age of 20, he started working on something that fascinated him. Gravity. He thought that if he could control, at least to some extent, the workings of gravity, breakthroughs could be made in multiple fields. From achieving famous scientist Elon Musk's dream of putting the first man on Mars to simple things like making chores easier.

One day, as he was working like a madman to make a breakthrough, he finally did. Something inside of him just clicked. There was this force inside of him, one he couldn't explain. Was it excitement? The adrenaline? No, this was different. When he blinked, all he could see was white, silver and grey. It wasn't the usual pitch black that one would normally see.

Then he concentrated, trying to figure out what he was seeing. Moments later, the white disappeared. He was still closing his eyes, but he could still sense, no, he could outright see everything. But it was all black and white. Outlines.

He looked at the book and cup on his table, but there was a peculiar dull grey line between them. James started concentrating on the line, and the objects started being pulled towards each other. But now, the line was a brighter, silver-ish colour.

Finally, he opened his eyes, only too see that a machine in the corner of the lab was flashing with bright colours.

"Oh, come on," was all James could whisper as he drowned in a sea of flames and the building collapsed in an explosion.

...

In a distant place, a higher dimensional plane, God looked down upon on one of the many worlds. It was the one where James resided, at least until he died.

"Someone really did it. He discovered magic all on his own, too. It was even ancient gravity magic. I'll place him where his talents can be better nurtured," God said. He then reached his hand towards a soul heading towards the afterlife.

...

"Ahh, that feels good."

James was floating around in empty nothingness, even though it felt like being cuddled by a teddy bear. Right then, a golden hand came down from above, and it grabbed onto his body. The hand then threw James upwards at breakneck speeds.

"Shit! What the hell!?"
