Chapter 9: Uneasy Alliance
The sleek chrome facade of E Industries headquarters gleamed beneath the Seoul sky. Soloman strode into the opulent lobby, his heart heavy with an unfamiliar emotion – uncertainty. He had crossed a line, driven by the promise of clearing Taejoon and Minho's names.
He was ushered into Kim Daeho's office, a stark contrast to the bustling activity outside. Daeho lounged behind a minimalist desk, his smile playing on the edge of amusement.
"So, Park Solomon," he drawled, "a change of heart?"
Soloman met his gaze, his voice steady. "My brother and his friend are innocent. Clear their records, and I'll consider your offer."
A flicker of surprise crossed Daeho's face, replaced by a slow smile. "A shrewd negotiator, I see. Very well. Their records will be wiped clean, a fresh start."
Soloman felt a flicker of relief, yet doubt gnawed at him. "What are your demands in return?"
"Your talent, Mr. Solomon," Daeho said, leaning forward. "Your ability to mimic and adapt is invaluable. Join us, and you'll have the resources to hone it further, to become more than you ever imagined."
Soloman hesitated, images of Taejoon's worried face flashing before him. He had no other choice. Taking a deep breath, he agreed.
Daeho's smile widened. "Welcome to the team, Mr. Solomon. You'll head your own division, the 'Mighty Angels of Gangbuk.' Let's see what wonders you can achieve."
Leaving the office, Soloman felt a cold weight settle in his stomach. He had joined the very force he opposed, walking a tightrope between protecting his brother and succumbing to their agenda.
Returning to the hideout, the tension was palpable. Taejoon and Minho stared at him, confusion and worry etched on their faces.
"We're leaving for Seoul," Soloman announced, his voice devoid of emotion. "Pack your bags."
"Seoul?" Taejoon stammered. "But why? And what about—"
Soloman cut him off, his voice hardening. "No questions. Trust me, this is for the best."
Doubt battled trust in Taejoon's eyes, but he saw the steely resolve in his brother's gaze. Without another word, they began packing, leaving behind their old life and stepping into the unknown.
