Running Secretly

Tom stood up and went to his room without even looking at the people in the kitchen.

After entering the room, he closed the room so tightly that its voice echoed throughout the house.

With wet eyes and hatred, he collapsed on the bed.

He wasn't thinking about anything and was staring blankly at the corner of the room for a long time.

Gradually, thoughts filled his mind. Again, the same thoughts about the parents but this time in a different form.

He imagined in his mind that if his real parents were here, they could go to the circus together.

Tom imagined that maybe his father would be interested in the circus, like him, or even he himself would take Tom to the circus to see The Juggler's show.

But these were just the impossible wishes of a sad teenager. He had to find a way.

Tom got out of the useless thoughts and was thinking how can he win back Mr. Morrison's heart after that awful argument!

Talking to Mr. Morrison again would probably make both of them angry, so it didn't make sense.

Thousands of different ways formed in Tom's mind and he chose the most stupid and worst of them and said it out loud: "Got it!".

His decision was to go to the circus secretly. It was very dangerous and risky. Exactly in line with Tom's ethics.

After tonight's awful conversation, Mr. Morrison would not contact Tom again.

You must be saying to yourself what a stubborn boy this is?! A fourteen-year-old teenager should not be expected to behave like an adult!

The Juggler's show would start in an hour and the only way to get there on time was through a large forest park between Bromley and Wallace Circus. This park was actually a shortcut.

Tom changed his clothes as fast as he could and got ready. But there was still a big problem here. How could he leave the house without being seen?

The Morrisons were still downstairs and it was impossible to go out from the door without being seen.

Tom opened the window and looked down. The height was high and without a doubt, jumping down was the most stupid thing in the world.

He lowered his head and looked outside.

There was a rusty metal pipe next to the window that was until the ground and Tom decided to leave the house with the help of this pipe and come back up later from here.

He was so determined that the oldness of the pipe didn't affect on his decision.

He reached the pipe with difficulty and was slowly coming down in the darkness of the night.

His feet would slip sometimes. He was halfway down when his foot slipped again.

He couldn't keep his balance this time. He fell.

Fear shook his body as he was falling down. The window was getting farther and farther away and…BOOOM!!

For a moment, he heard a sound like the bones of his back breaking and didn't dare to move for serval minutes, because he feared that his back might be broken.

He stood up after a few minutes, fortunately, his back wasn't injured. He was so lucky to have landed on the soft grass of the yard.

Tom arranged his clothes and walked away, and after fifteen minutes of walking, he found himself in front of the forest park.

He said with disappointment after he put his hand in his pocket to take something: "Oh No!"

He had left the house in such a hurry that he completely forgot to bring his small flashlight. Without it, crossing this park would be very dangerous.

The silver, half-moon in the sky had lit up the space a bit, but not enough. There was no choice. Tom had to walk through the park in this dim moonlight because going back home and taking out the flashlight would have made him miss the show.

After taking several deep breaths, he entered the park.

The park was dark and scary and the Constant sound of reptiles and owls, made Tom's legs tremble in fear.

Tom had lowered his head and was moving, but when he heard a weird sound, he unconsciously looked up and saw a huge gray owl sitting on the branch.

The owl was sitting behind Tom and suddenly turned his head toward him and looked at him with his big yellow eyes.

Tom got scared and walked faster, putting distance between himself and the owl.

A little later he saw the lights of the city on the other side of the forest and happily ran towards the light and finally came out of the forest park.

The Wallace circus was located two streets ahead and between two big buildings.

It wasn't Tom's first time coming downtown, but it was definitely the first time he had come here without permission and secretly.

Tom hid his necklace under his shirt and moved. He was passing through the people who were moving in the opposite direction and a little later he reached the circus.

Tom Martin could see the crowd lining up to buy tickets from the distance.

Everyone had come to watch The Juggler and there wasn't enough room to swing a cat.

Fortunately, Tom didn't have to wait in line to buy a ticket because he won a golden ticket in a lottery the last time he came here with Morrisons.

With that ticket, he could go to the circus ten times for free.
