Chapter 46: Umbrella Corporation’s Cadre Training Facility

Kenny and his team swiftly deactivated the lock control system at the rear of the train, leaving the rest up to our actions. We entered the password, unlocked the emergency brake, and sparks flew from the wheels due to the friction on the tracks. Unfortunately, the train's velocity was too high to stop promptly.

"What's that!" Billy's shout drew our attention as the train sped into a sealed tunnel. The wooden barricade at the entrance stood no chance against the onrushing train.

In a perilous moment, I instinctively grasped Rebecca with my left hand while holding onto a railing in the control room with my right, securing us together. The likelihood of the train derailing was high, and according to the map, the tracks ended in the middle of this tunnel.

As expected, the train careened off the tracks. The impact was jarring, and if not for my enhanced physique, I might have blacked out.

"Rebecca, are you okay?" I asked, concerned, after steadying myself. Despite my protection, the tumultuous tumble had left Rebecca dizzy.

"Senior Zhang Fan…" She regained consciousness and realized she was in my arms. Her cheeks flushed with the sudden intimacy, but her immediate concern was for the others.

"Captain! Edward! Are you all right?" The control room was severely damaged. Captain Enrico and Edward were unconscious, while Billy had mysteriously vanished. Recalling the moment of the crash, I realized he had been flung out of the window by the force.

With no time to ponder over Billy's fate, Rebecca and I moved the captain and Edward out of the control room and contacted Kenny's group, who were thankfully unharmed.

"Is everyone okay? We're on our way!" Kenny's voice cracked with relief over the radio.

Regaining consciousness, Captain Enrico and Edward were disoriented in the dimly lit tunnel. Despite not being fiercely ablaze, the flames engulfing the train provided some light. We were inside a tunnel, and escape seemed impossible through the way we came in.

Fortunately, all members of Team B were safe. We gathered to discuss our next steps.

As for Billy, we decided to leave him to his fate, focusing instead on finding a way out. We discovered an exit through a drainage channel alongside the tunnel.

"There's no other way," I acknowledged, leading the group through the waterway until we found a ladder.

Emerging from the top, we found ourselves in a vast hall with the Umbrella Corporation's emblem on the floor. "Umbrella's Cadre Training Facility," I read from a sign. The grandeur of the hall, complete with a portrait of James Marcus, the original director, was a stark contrast to our situation.

"Who would have thought Umbrella would establish a training facility here?" The extravagant setting astounded everyone. Such opulence in the remote Arklay Mountains was unthinkable.

"We should be cautious. I have a bad feeling about this," I warned, aware of Umbrella's notorious reputation.

Following Captain Enrico's instructions, we split into groups to search the area. Naturally, I teamed up with Rebecca. My powers and hidden weapons in the exclusive space gave me confidence, and Rebecca's trust in me was absolute, just as mine in her.

Finding the door to the third floor locked, I tried kicking it open without success.

"What do we do, Senior Zhang Fan? We can't get through," Rebecca said, looking to me for guidance.

"To open this door is simple, but Rebecca, no matter what you see next, please don't be surprised. It's a secret of mine," I said with a slight smile, turning to her seriously. Rebecca's curiosity was piqued, wondering what secret I was about to reveal.
