Chapter Six: Mother Meeting

Shit! No Alia! Do not do this to Ashlyn right now. Not at homecoming. Ashlyn, Mads, and I take Alia outside of the building, and Mads and I looked at her with anger and disappointment. Ashlyn just looked at her with confusion.

"Why did you come?" I asked Alia, and she looked at me.

"I came to see my daughter. Ashlyn." Alia said, and I looked at Ashlyn, who looked at us with tears in her eyes.

"So, this is my mother. You were actually telling me the truth. And you met her behind my back? I can't believe you--" Ashlyn said, and she ran away from us.

"ASHLYN WAIT!" Mads shouted, and ran to Ashlyn.

I looked Alia in the eyes, and slapped her. You do not do that. I said no, so I said no. You don't invite yourself into her life. I don't think she's safe for my girlfriend. I really don't.

"What the hell are you doing here, Alia? You're supposed to be with your husband." I said, and Alia looked at me.

"I made a mistake sixteen years ago. I am only trying to correct it." Alia said, and I looked at Mads and Ashlyn together at the river where the legend took place.

I decided to walk over to them and I see that Alia is trying to join me, and I hold her down. I make sure that she doesn't come.

"I do not think that it is the best time to talk to her." I said, and I rushed to Ashlyn and Mads, seeing that Ashlyn is hurt and betrayed.

"So you guys kept that secret from me. But why?" Ashlyn asked us, and Mads and I looked at each other, and then back at her.

"Ash, she's not a good mother. She is with your uncle, which I find stupid. She said that your father is alive, and just… she talked nonsense that can't be true. Alia killed your father." I said, and Ashlyn shook her head.

"No. Actually, I know that Dysio is alive." Ashlyn said, and Mads and I got very confused. I can tell on her face.

"How do you know that?" Mads asked her, and Ashlyn looked at me in the eyes.

"Because I have been talking to him." Ashlyn said, and Mads and I widened our eyes.

-Ashlyn-

I decided to call Dysio, and he answered the phone.

"Dad?" I said through the phone, and I got nervous.

"Hi, sweetheart. What's been up lately, Ash?" My dad asked me, and I looked down at my orange ring that my mother gave me before I left.

"Mother came." I said, and I looked down, feeling like I disappointed him.

"Alia came?" He asked me and I looked up.

"Yes." I said, and I looked at the stove, thinking I wanted something to eat.

"My god." My dad said, and I kept looking at the stove.

"I am so sorry. I had no idea." I said, and I could hear that he was angry.

"When can I live a life without your mother?" Dysio asked me, and I looked down.

"I am not sure. Either way, I have to make myself breakfast." I said, and I hung up the call on my father.

I decided to walk to the stove, opening the fridge. The first thing I see that looks good is pancake mix. I grab it and I put a pan on the stove, as I get a call from someone.

"Hello?" I asked the person on the phone, and it was Mads.

"Hi. I understand that you don't want to talk to us, but I want to say that I am so sorry. I want to know how I can make it up to you." Mads said, and I raised an eyebrow.

"You two knew who my mother was, and met my mother behind my back. You could've brought me along!" I said, and a sigh came out of Mads's mouth.

"We know that you would've said no." Mads said, and I nodded.

"I know. But you don't do it behind my back!" I said, and Mads sighed again.

"If you knew that Dysio is your father, who did you think your mother was?" Mads asked me, and I looked down at my fingernails.

"Katherine. I talked to Katherine during a text call, and she said she was my mother. And now, this random woman is saying that she is my mother. How the hell am I going to figure out who my mother actually is?" I asked, and Mads gave an ughhhh sound.

I hung up on Mads, annoyed with myself and angry at her. Why would they bring this random woman into my life in the first place? Isn't it enough to just let me be?

I take the pancakes off the stove, since they are clearly done and I grab them, putting them on a clear glass plate with a flower painted on it. I painted it on the plate when I was a kid. I grabbed said plate with pancakes on it and I brought it to the nice dining table, placing it on one of the six fancy layouts on the table.

I sit down, trying to enjoy my morning without drama, until someone comes and knocks on my door. I just continue to eat my pancakes, until this person bangs on my door again. I put my silver fork down and I walked to the door, annoyed that the noise was so loud in the first place. I opened the door, and I saw a weird man couple at my door. I don't exactly know who this man is, and so I keep the door open, not letting him in.

"Who exactly are you both?" I asked him, and he pulled his phone out.

"My name is Dysio." He said, and I paused.

---

This couple and I are sitting on the couch, as he drank his coffee and the woman just texting someone.

"Okay. Enough with the silence. How are you, Ash?" My dad asked me and I looked at him.

"I'm doing fine. I just have a couple questions for you, and Katherine." I said, and both of them nodded.

"First question is for you, father." I said, and he nodded.

"Ask me anything, darling." He said and I leaned back while on the couch.

"Who is my real birth mother?" I asked him, and Dysio fiddled with his V-neck on his shirt.

"Alia is." Dysio said, and I looked down, and then at Katherine.

"Next question… Dysio." I said and he nodded.

"Why did you cheat on her?" I asked him, and he gulped.

"I wasn't in love with her anymore. She was being very cranky and she was complaining about the baby all the time." He said, and I started to get annoyed at what I am hearing.

"In a wedding vow, you are supposed to say 'till death do us part' meaning that you would be there for her NO. MATTER. WHAT! And you weren't there for her!" I said, and he looked down.

"And I am so sorry for breaking her. She did not deserve that. But when I saw her, I was truly in love with her. It felt like fireworks… and then I met Katherine." He said, and I slapped him.

"I want you to get out of my house. I don't tolerate cheaters." I said, and I walked to the kitchen, putting my plate in the sink.

"As you wish." Dysio said, and he and Katherine walked out the door.

I decided to call my friend from my past: Fiona. I am honestly so stressed that I need to stay with her. I can't live in this house right now.

"Hey, is this Fiona?" I asked the person on the phone.

"Yes. What is it?" Fiona asked me, and I smirked.

"I need to stay with you for a while. Are you okay with that?" I asked her and Fiona paused.

"Yes. Of course. Just, let me help you pack your stuff." Fiona said, and I smiled.

"Here's my address." I said, and she started paying attention.

-Mads-

I messed up with Ashlyn. I really did. I decided to call Damara, and see what she is up to. Her and I have something in common. We are probably both upset about the big secret we kept from Ashlyn.

"Hello, Mads. What's up?" Damara asked me, and I looked down at my floor.

"I feel bad about what we did and I think we should apologize. Keeping that secret from her was just, not okay, and I feel horrible for doing it." I said, and Damara looked at me.

"Yeah. I am actually with Alia right now. She's sipping on orange juice and watching The Vampire Diaries." Damara said, and I looked down.

"I am going to try and call Ashlyn." I said, and I looked up at the ceiling, as I was trying to get a bug off the wall.

"Good idea. I am concerned about her." Damara said, and I nodded, hanging up on Damara.

I decided not to call Ashlyn for about an hour just to give her some privacy. Just to give her some time to herself for her to comprehend everything. I decided to call her now, and it led right to voicemail. I am curious because she doesn't really leave people on voicemail. I had no idea that she even has a voicemail.

-Ashlyn-

"Are you ready?" Fiona asked me and I nodded.

I grabbed my bags of clothing, as she escorted me into the second bedroom of her apartment. I shake her hand, and I thank her for letting me stay with her for a bit, until I get myself on my feet again. I just can't be in town right now. I even got a new phone number too, and a whole new cell line. I layed in the bed, thinking about the new life I am going to have for myself. I am actually going to be an adult. I am going to get a job, starting tomorrow. My god, I am so excited. I was thinking about life, and then Fiona walked into the room.

"Ash, you are still going to school, we're just switching you to a different one. We are switching you to Green Lake High." Fiona said, and I layed back in my bed, rolling my eyes.

"You know about my mark, right?" I said and she nodded.

"Yes. You know, you have to pick a completely new color to choose. You know, to choose to pretend to be." Fiona said, and I nodded, thinking about the colors you can be and the pros and cons of each one. Pros of purple. It's a pretty color. Cons. Purples tend to be psychopaths.

Pros of red. It's a really sexy color, and it might attract more people towards me. Cons. Red is very close to orange. I keep thinking about it for an hour and I still have not chosen a color.

I look at my orange mark, and I remember that I can wear items of any color on this planet. I decided to go with yellow. It's the color of happiness and joy.

I walk outside to tell Fiona that I am going to go with the color yellow and I smiled, knowing that I am confident with my decision.

"Fiona…" I said, and she looked at me.

"Yes?" She asked, and I showed her that I painted my mark yellow.

"I will buy you yellow clothes right away." She said, and she grabbed her purse.

"Wait. You don't have to do that." I said, and I handed her $1,000 from my pocket.

"I will buy you a pair of sneakers. Don't worry." She said, and she walked outside of the door, leaving me home alone.

I look around her place. Her assigned color was red. Good thing I didn't choose red. I sat down in front of the TV and looked up at the ceiling. I layed down on the couch, and started to play games on my new phone that I got today. I can't stay in touch with anyone right now. I am on my own, and I am happy. I don't have to rely on my brother and I don't have to put up with Damara and Mads for a little bit.

I decided to go to the kitchen of this apartment and I grabbed a bag of Crunchy Fajita Takis. I go to my bedroom, and I just munch on them. They're really good, not going to lie. I eat the entire bag, until I hear the door open. It's Fiona with my clothes.

"Here you go. You have a pair of sneakers, a pair of Adidas, one in each shade of yellow, about ten T-shirts, a brand new ID. Your name is Isabelle Mitchell and you are 16." Fiona said.
