'He looks like someone who sleeps around, no wonder he could never be committed to anyone,' I concluded after doing some thinking about my boss's behavior… he just proved the media right with the stuff I read about him.
I walked over to Sarah's desk, she wasn't there earlier when I passed by her table rushing to give my boss his coffee, or else she would have told me about the scandal going on in the office before I stepped in.
"Hi!" I greeted Sarah to get her attention, as she looked up from the keyboard she was furiously typing on to see who it was.
She beamed when she realized it was me, "Hey, dear."
"That Jer—I meant the boss told me to come to meet you, that you're going to guide and orient me on some things here, since I'm pretty new and don't know how things run here," I uttered and rolled my eyes while she stared at me.
A sucker for a boss…
'I almost even called him a jerk in front of Sarah, well, that's what he is,' I thought.
"I guess you saw something which baffled you and was not meant to see as a first-timer," Sarah smiled warmly at me and I gave her a sharp gaze and sighed.
"Is that how he is?"
"Bringing in ladies and having his way with them in his office?" I asked curiously, and Sarah chuckled at my bewilderment.
"It's something you have to get used to," She said, and my eyes widened.
"What?" I questioned, finding it hard to believe she just spilled those statements from her mouth.
'Poor old lady… she must have seen a lot,'
"Let's start with getting you to your office first," She smiled, standing up while I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, sure," I laughed in affirmation, although I couldn't help but think about the number of ladies my boss would have fucked.
'Why do I care anyway?' I scoffed inwardly.
I was so eager to get to my office, most especially to drop this freaking bag I was carrying… My left arm is starting to hurt and feel cramped. We walked to the next three doors, not far from my boss's, and she opened the door.
'How great it feels to be on the same floor level with that jerk,' I thought amusingly.
"Here you are," She said as I stepped into the moderately lavish office. I stared in awe, feeling so happy.
"It's beautiful," I muttered, staring at the painted white and blue wall and a mangrove color table with a new model HP computer… it was remarkable.
"Glad you like it," Sarah said, and I glanced toward her and smiled genuinely.
"Yeah,"
"So, you are to make schedules and appointments for the boss and also cancel the irrelevant ones," She spoke, and I listened with rapt attention.
"Also, you will attend meetings—"
'Yeah, I know that for sure, I'm his PA—'
"Parties—"
"Parties?" I interrupted Sarah, and she gave me a paused look.
"Oh dear, you don't know what you signed up for," She chuckled and gave me an assuring look that I will be fine.
"You'll be attending parties when the need arises and various occasions with the boss unless he feels you don't need to, but wherever he is, you have to be there,"
'Like a babysitter or what?' I thought wearily, this won't be easier as I thought it would be.
"Oh boy!" I muttered and Sarah laughed.
Did I say that too loud?
"You have a lot of work to do, and I mean a lot," She laughed like I didn't know the kind of job I opted for.
And this wasn't supposed to be funny, the way she was making it seem.
"I guess so too," I responded dryly and inhaled sharply.
"That's what comes with being a personal assistant," Sarah chuckled.
"I think it's great after all, I think attending places I've never been before isn't a bad idea," I faked a laugh with her, I was beginning to hate all these already, and with what I saw my boss doing in his office with that lady… I'm starting to feel discouraged and having second thoughts about going out with someone like him.
"Okay, all well said…" Sarah revived me from my lost thoughts as I stared at her, waiting for what she was about to say next.
"I will bring some documents which you will need to go through," She announced and was about to take her to leave when I called back for her attention.
"Mrs. Wood—" She stopped in her tracks and looked at me.
"Thanks for your time, I appreciate it," I smiled at her, she had been the coolest ever since I stepped foot into this company.
"You are welcome dear, and please call me Sarah," She smiled, and I nodded at her before she left my office.
I hurriedly dropped the bag I was holding on the table carelessly, as I stretched my arms into the air relieved.
"Woah! Finally!!" I said proudly as I walked around the table to the swivel chair and sat on it. I twirled around before stopping myself, crossing my legs with a proud smirk playing on my lips.
"Let's get to work, baby," I sing sang.
I drew the chair closer to the table and picked up the pen, bringing it closer to my lips as I thought of many things.
'Well, I'm working for one of the most well-known companies in America… That's such a big catch,' I thought, smirking to myself.
I glanced at some documents neatly arranged on my desk and picked one of them, I opened them and let my eyes read through the pages of the document lazily.
Minutes passed by, and I decided to master how I'll receive official calls, "This is Amanda Jackson, from TRIS limited, personal to Drake Triston," I repeated severally and chuckled to myself.
'Does that necessary need,' I thought, getting bored from saying those statements over and over again, but whatever it's still fun to me. I just feel so proud right now.
Why wouldn't I?
It's my first ever lucrative Job… I can attend my school's get-togethers with a hint of ego.
My phone buzzed and when I checked the caller ID, it was Annie, "Sweetie, how are you doing?" She asked immediately after I answered her call.
"Work is going on smoothly and great," I responded before she would bombard me with deafening questions.
"Aww, that's good… I'm coming to your place tonight, so be ready to gist me and most, especially about Mr. Hottie, bye," She informed and hung up before I could speak.
'Oh yeah, there are lot of gists,' I smirked and swirled on my chair.
I got up to look at the full window, the view outside was spectacular, I couldn't help but smile to myself.
"I got a fantastic job," I whispered, hugging myself and smiling… Except that my boss is a jerk, I can't just call him that now when I don't know him too well at all.
I went back to my seat and was beginning to get bored, then the telephone rang, and I picked it up immediately and memorized the statements I'd been teaching myself since.
"This is Ama—"
"Come to my office now!" A deep voice ordered, interrupting me, knowing it was my boss, I got up and straightened my clothes, and headed to his office.
I breathed deeply and knocked on his door without getting a response.
I sighed and knocked again but got no response still.
'Where could he possibly be? Didn't he just call me—'
"Come in," I heard.
'Took him long enough,' I tsked and opened the door. I walked into the office and behold was my boss sitting majestically on his seat with his hands clamped together in front of him.
"You called for me, sir," I said, stopping in my tracks as I stared at him.
"Move closer," His deep, authoritative voice ordered, and my legs became weak.
His dark eyes sliced through me and I nodded nervously and moved closer to his desk and stopped right in front of him while my heart beat faintly.
'Is something wrong?' I thought curiously and to my surprise, my boss stood up from his seat and marched over to me.
I tried to hold my breath and compose myself, but it seemed I'm running out of air in my lungs, and that strong cologne of his was starting to choke me.
"You are beautiful," I heard him mutter and felt his fingers tangle with the strands of my hair.
"Excuse me?" I snapped, turning my face to him with furrowed brows, staring at him straight in those black of his while my heart was pounding crazily.
'What the hell was he doing?'
He cast a nasty cocky smirk at me and took another step close to me, I couldn't even back away from him because the desk acted as a barrier at the moment.
'If he tries anything weird this time around, I'm going to punch the hell out of that freaking handsome face of his, and I don't care if he's my boss,' I thought furiously.
He dares not think I'm like some other girls who would give in easily and would be so dumb to be manipulated for his looks.
"Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" I spoke, trying to control the harshness in my tone and compose myself at the very possible best.
I'm not going to let my guard down for him…
"Yes," He smirked, and I shot my brows furiously up at him as the corner of his lips curled up deeper.
A sudden gasp escaped my lips when I felt my boss's arms wrapped around my waist unexpectedly and pulled me closer to him and my face hit his chest.
"Let go of me!" I struggled against him, but his grip was firm, and he pressed my body against him, and I wish I could disappear instantly.
"I will, if you stay calm and be a good girl," He whispered into my ears, and my stomach twisted uncontrollably with butterflies dancing in my stomach against my wish.
He tugged some loose strands of my hair behind my ear, and I had no choice but to look at his face… Damn, this man was the sole definition of perfect, the beauty his face withheld was beyond this world. He looked even better in a closer view.
My lips parted in awe as he leaned his face closer to mine.
'What is he doing?'
'Is he going to kiss me?'
'Why am I not punching him in the face right now?'
'Why do I feel so helpless in the presence of this man?'
I was so lost in my thoughts when I felt our nose brush against each other his breath fanning my cheeks, I stared at how his eyes lowered to my lips and I swallowed, closing my lips and realizing they had been opened for too long.
He chuckled softly, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevitable…
"We are having a meeting in 10 minutes' time," He muttered into my ears, his lips brushing against my earlobe. I felt a wave of spark course through me, and he left me alone suddenly, then turned around.
I stared in disbelief as he walked out of the office, and I released my breath as a rush of relief surged through me.
Likewise, I leaned on the desk to support my balance while trying to catch on to my breath.
'How long had I been holding it in?' I thought, my eyes still fixed on the entrance.
What the hell was all that about…?
