The hair on my skin rose and I shuddered under his touch. I immediately drew my hand back. "It looks good on you .... Katherine." He complimented and his enchanting gaze seemed to bewitch me. "Thankyou" I said, without even giving it a second thought. Immediately I wanted to take that 'thankyou' back. Thank you? Of all the things I could have said, "thankyou" was the worst. I didn't want Lucas thinking that I liked his compliment. It didn't take much thinking to realize that he was trouble, and I had enough trouble looming, no need to invite more. "And I prefer Kat." I corrected, realizing that he had called me Katherine earlier. "Why not Katherine?" His gaze looked appraising. "Cause it's boring." I answered and turned towards the chalkboard. "I think it's beautiful." His reply caught me off guard and I turned sideways, he was still staring at me intently, with those dazzling charcoal grey eyes.] * * * * * Excerpt 2, [He shifted in his seat and his eyes met mine. "I believe there's always more to everything than it meets the eye." He was inclining towards me now. "Do you not believe in witches?"  "I don't. . ." I lied. "They only exists in folklores and myths." I added to make my lie more convincing.  I noticed his lips turn into a smile but it faded away the second he looked at me.  "Are you sure?" He raised an eyebrow. "Do things out of blue not elevate your curiousity?"  "They do." I replied. In fact, everything happening lately had my curiosity skyrocketed.  "And have you ever tried to find answers to those questions? If you do find the answers. . ." He leaned in closer. "I bet you won't be disappointed." He was unnecessarily close, his husky voice went straight into my ears.  He shifted back in his seat and put his hands behind his head. There was a smirk plastered on his lips and for some reasons I had a feeling that he had challenged me to some mysterious quest.] * * * * *

Satisfied [35]

"I'm ready." I answered.

He sighed and put a hand on his forehead massaging his temples. "It's your decision Katherine. I won't bother you anymore about this." He bought his hand back to his side and then examined the silver watch on his wrist. "Go home now." He ordered meeting my eyes. "Think this through. You still have time to make a right choice." He moved towards the wall that had shifted earlier.

"But I still have some questions?" I turned towards him and he stopped in his track. I realized I couldn't put my doubts forward because of all the things I learnt today consumed most of my time.

He turned back again and faced me. His face seemed quite annoyed as if he was not satisfied by the decision I had made earlier. "You can raise your questions later. But right now you have to go home. It's already half past eight."

"What?" My mouth fell open and I immediately dug into my jacket's pocket to find my cellphone. I pressed a button and the lights flashed on the screen. It showed half past eight and I had five missed calls from Grace. I felt like kicking myself. In order to get my answers I completely forgot I was supposed to bring groceries on time. Grace is going to shot several questions at me now. What am I supposed to tell her now? Ughhh.

"I think you need to be somewhere on time." He raised an eyebrow and his face turned to a musing one.

I facepalmed myself. "I'm going to be in trouble now." I muttered under my breath.

"Are you okay?" Finn asked.

"I'm fine. I should definitely go now." I answered and rushed towards the wall. I noticed a keypad lock on the wall. Finn pressed a combination of numbers then pressed the button below the numbers. The wall creaked with abruptness and begin shifting towards left, slowly while making a scraping sound.

The dark room again came into view as the light from the candles poured it with brightness. Finn walked out before me and I followed him.

"Can we exchange contact numbers?" I asked.

"We cannot talk on call. The demons might hear us. They could be possessing anyone around us without our knowledge."

"Then how am I supposed to contact you?"

"Text me---only when it's urgent. The lesser we are in touch, the harder it will be for the demons to find us." He advised and we exchanged numbers.

"I'll see you later then." I was about to leave but immediately stopped when I heard him speak behind me.

"Remember. . . You cannot share about this with anyone. And please be more careful the next time you come here. Always check around. The demons can be possessing anyone around us

. So please be more careful." The light in the room was dim but I was sure there was a look of dread plastered on his face. He must be very serious about this.

"I will be careful." I nodded.

"And also --- wear the amulet every time you leave your house and even inside your house." He added.

"Okay. Good night." I said and walked towards the front door.

"Good night." He spoke as he opened the door for me and I walked out.

It was raining. I pulled my hood over my face again and spun my head around. The streets were empty as before. The only difference was, everything was drenched and wet. The steady patter of water against my raincoat faded to a dull rush in the back of my mind. As I made my way to where I had parked, I realized the thick wool was almost soaked through. I didn't know if it would ever be dry again. A piercing gust of wind shook me, showering my already miserable frame with a fresh deluge. I wiped the water from my eyes with a wet sleeve and tucked a lock of my wavy brown hair back under the protection of my hood. The clouds above me were still dense. I tramped my way along the puddled streets, splashing water as my shoes stepped on the road.

When I reached the parking lot beside the departmental store, I unlocked the car and jumped inside. Once inside, I turned on the heater and removed my almost sogging wet jacket. Taking a deep breath, I brought the engine back to life and starting driving back home.

It wasn't easy driving through the rain. The windshield wiper swayed back and forth on the glass as I drove. I was lost in my own thoughts. Tonight was a very long and tough night for me. I had learnt so much about myself and about my past. For the first time in days I felt satisfied. The frustration and the anger had subsided a little. Even though I learnt a very little about myself, I was still content I had the chance to learn something.

I quickly parked the car and rushed inside when I reached home. I was a bit nervous as to what excuse I was going to feed Grace with. She must have been worried. A thirty minutes work turned to two hours and I had to find a plausible reason to get myself out of this trouble now. As soon as I was inside, I saw Grace walking towards me.

"Where were you? It's been almost two hours since you left. What happened?" She bombarded me with questions.

Taking my wet shoes off and placing them aside, I answered. "I met Cee at the store and you know Cee. She won't stop once she starts talking and we eventually lost track of time." I lied, not meeting her eyes.

"Why were you not answering your phone?" She cross questioned.

"I left it in the car." I lied again. Picking up the bag of groceries I strolled over to the refrigerator and opened it. I begin stuffing the groceries everywhere in the fridge, placing them in the empty spaces inside.

"You are all wet. Go change otherwise you'll catch a fever." Grace instructed.

I looked down at myself. I was completely drenched in rain. "Yeah you're right." I said and walked upstairs to my room. I almost gasped when I looked myself in the mirror. My hair were soaking wet and plastered to the sides and my face was pale like a zombie. I needed to take a hot shower, so I grabbed a towel and rushed inside the bathroom.
