"Impressive... how you noticed my presence," a low, metallic voice echoed, as a man stepped out of the shadows.
This isn't good, Isabelle thought, her pulse quickening.
"How did you get in?" Isabelle asked, her voice steady despite the growing tension. She kept the weapon aimed at the figure, every muscle coiled in preparation for whatever came next.
The man tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable behind the sleek, metallic mask he wore. "You'd be surprised how easily one can gain access when the right connections are made."
Isabelle's eyes narrowed. "Who sent you?"
He chuckled softly, the sound chilling. "I am the one that will the asking the questions…Isabelle"
Isabelle's grip tightened on the weapon, her fingers brushing the cool surface of the trigger. "I don't respond to threats," she said, her voice low.
