Chapter 40

“I’ll come after you, motherfucker!” Marc yelled at Auggie’s back. He lunged forward, but Jax stopped him, blocking his way.

Marc collected the digital camera from the nightstand, which he shoved inside a pocket. He thanked Jax for helping him and added, “I’m going to fuck Auggie over with this evidence.”

Jax walked Marc to the apartment’s door, passing the bathroom, and said, “Auggie only did this because you broke his heart.”

Marc looked over his right shoulder. “He can tell that to a jury.”

“I’ll deny everything if I get a subpoena to show up in court.”

Marc spit out, “You bring that up with God. He will deal with you for perjury.”

“Don’t forget that I saved your ass. You’d still be tied to the bed if I didn’t come around.”

The look Marc gave Jax was of deep thought. He raised an eyebrow, pursed his lips, became rational all of the sudden, perhaps clear-minded, motionless at the apartment’s door, and said, “I get that…but he was torturing me.”
