The ticking of the clock was all Alain could hear along with his own heavy breathing.
It felt awkward sitting on the lavish couch. Just a few weeks ago he still lounged around with a bowl of snacks in one hand and a television remote control in his other hand.

Alain was a bundle of nervous wrecks, but Aiden was the very picture of composure.

Now that Alain was no longer part of the Caldwell family, he discovered that the mansion staff were especially cold and unresponsive to his requests. Even a glass of water was not offered to him until Aiden opened his mouth.
