Mr Quinn placed a comforting arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. He could feel her body shaking with silent sobs.
Serena turned around and hugged her husband tightly, her body trembling as her sobs intensified. "I'm scared," she whispered between her cries, her voice barely audible. The weight of her fear and uncertainty pressed down on her like an unbearable burden.
"He'll wake up, Serena," he said softly, trying to infuse his words with a certainty he didn't entirely feel. "He's strong. He'll come back to us."
Serena nodded, but her eyes never left Edward's face. She continued to watch him, her gaze unwavering, as if her sheer willpower could bring him back to consciousness. "He looks so peaceful, like he's just sleeping," she whispered, her voice breaking.
