A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. Ella opened her mouth to tell him not to worry. When she met his eyes, she could not lie to him.
Ella mustered up the courage to reveal the truth to Jasper, knowing she couldn't keep secrets from him any longer. She took a deep breath and began explaining the situation, her voice trembling as she recounted the events.
"I ran into Britney when I came out of the powder room," she said slowly. "She yelled at me, called me a whore, and accused me of sleeping with you. I lost my cool and..." She narrated everything that had happened.
Ella paused momentarily and glanced down at her legs, where the bruises from Britney's attack were still visible. Jasper's expression darkened as he took in the sight, his anger palpable.
"I took medicine," Ella quickly added. "I'll be fine in a few days. Please don't be concerned."
