A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. The sun was high overhead, casting a warm glow over the bustling office complex. Christopher was late today. He walked briskly towards his cabin, his eyes fixed on the door ahead.
As he approached, his secretary rose from her desk, her normally bright smile replaced with a strained attempt at cheeriness.
"Good morning, Mr. Sherman. Benjamin is absent today as well. I tried to contact him, but he did not return my calls." Her smile faltered at the end.
Christopher's expression turned concerned, his brow furrowing as he processed the information. Concern for Benjamin's well-being flashed through his thoughts, and he wondered if something had happened to his assistant. But he quickly dismissed it, assuming that Benjamin might have a legitimate reason for his absence. He knew he had wronged Benjamin and that he should call him.
"I'll make a call to him." He turned to walk into his cabin, but his secretary's next words made him pause in his tracks.
