A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. "Everyone in the house was already tense. Did you have to add more tension to it? What did you get out of saying those things?" Austin raged at his wife as soon as they came into the bedroom.
"Satisfaction," Pamela replied instantly. "I get the satisfaction that you can't give me. You can listen to them quietly, but I can't."
She straightened her backbone and curled her lips slyly. "Gloria is always proud of her son. This time, he really brought shame to the family. It's worth it to see her shamed pale face. On the contrary, look at our son… He has never done anything to disappoint us."
She felt very proud of her son.
"It's only a rumor. You don't know for certain." Austin defended Christopher.
"There is no smoke without fire," Pamela countered. "Who would spread such words? Didn't they worry about losing their jobs? I don't believe it's just a rumor."
