The Billionaire's Sick Wife

A poor girl born with congenital heart disease has not had much hope for the future, but her life takes a sharp turn when a wealthy, handsome man proposes marriage to her following her heart transplant. It was the most surprising thing to happen to her in her 22 years of life. Abigail had never thought that Christopher Sherman, a young, multibillionaire businessman, would approach her and express his desire to marry her. She was ecstatic and accepted his proposal. But little did she know that the 32-year-old handsome guy had a secret reason for wanting to marry her. Abigail stepped into his world with a lot of hope in her heart. But marrying him was not the happy ending. It was just the beginning. Will she be able to keep her heart from breaking? What will happen if she discovers his true motive? ============= "Life was easy before I married you," said Abigail with pain in her eyes. “I was dying, but I was happy.” “What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm. Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered. "Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute. “Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?” His silence was the clear answer. ============= A special thanks to Aurora, my editor, for her helpful suggestions on how to improve the synopsis. The accident

Abigail was waiting for Christopher, as she remembered him saying he would be in the office before noon. The lunch break would begin in five minutes, but he was yet to arrive.

She couldn't focus on work, her gaze moving to her phone every now and then.

"Where are you?" she wondered.

She picked it up to call him when it rang. It was her mother's number.

"Hello…" She had a slight smile on her face, but her heart dropped as she heard the voice on the other end of the line.

"Abigail… I am Helena Jenkins, your neighbor, remember?"

"Yes, I do remember you." Abigail was worried about why Mrs. Jenkins was calling her from her mother's number.

"Your mom was in an accident, and they have taken her to the hospital. It's bad. You need to come as soon as possible."

Abigail's heart was hammering in her chest as she struggled to make sense of what she was hearing. Her mother, with whom she had just spoken the day before, was in the hospital.
