Chapter 3.

They all witnessed how Crisel was shot in the head by the thief.

Caranta's knees went weak. She couldn't explain the pain she felt. She didn't think that in a short time she would lose the one she considered a friend.

She felt great pity for Kanyard when he suddenly hugged her.

"Sir… I don't know what to say this… But, are you okay? Shh. I'm here." She rubbed his back.

Her eyes widened as his grip tightened on her arm.

"S-sir…"

"Oh my god! He shouldn't be seeing this!" Kelian shouted, "Caranta, help me take him to his room!"

She nodded. "Yes, ma'am!"

She placed Kanyard's right hand on her shoulder. Her maam, Kelian, did the same to lift Kanyard.

When they got to the room, they helped Kanyard lie down on the bed.

Kelian tapped her shoulder. "Thanks, Caranta. I don't know what I would do without you here."

She bowed. "It's my responsibility, ma'am. Ma'am… About Crisel…"

"Don't worry about that, Caranta; I will call the police." Kelian sat on the sofa. "Knowing that this house's security is so strong that a thief can yet break in is something I find difficult to explain."

"I fear for my nephew, Caranta. He is my life. I left my family at our mansion for him. Why? Because before her mother died, I promised her mother to take care of him."

"I'm sorry to hear that, ma'am."

When Kanyard woke up, Kelian stood up.

"My Kanyard, take your medicine. Here." Kelian handed Kanyard a glass of water and a capsule.

"Thanks, aunt." He looked at Caranta, "Aunt, can you leave me and Caranta for now? I want to talk to her."

His aunt smiled, "Of course."

He looked at her firmly, "I didn't like that you saw me weak earlier. I hope you forget what you saw. And don't feel sorry for me."

The corner of her mouth turned up, "Yes, sir, sorry. Sorry…"

His forehead creased, "You can go out."

"Y-yes, sir."

After she left the room, she sat down and leaned against the door. She held her chest because it was tight. Tears ran down her cheeks.

She couldn't get out of her mind how Crisel died. She held her head up because it hurt.

She couldn't stop crying, but there was no voice.

Five hours later.

Crisel's wake was held near the garden of the mansion. Many maids sympathize with Crisel.

Caranta slowly approached Crisel's coffin. She couldn't stop her tears from flowing even more.

"I'm sorry…" She uttered. She fell to her knees.

A maid came to her. "Caranta, right?"

She nodded.

"I'm Clea. Did you know that Crisel has no parents and no other relatives? She is all alone in life. She is one of the nicest people I know. And do you know, apart from our late maid 10 years ago, sister Daphian, she is the second trusted by Sir Kanyard? So I'm sure that Crisel's death is very painful for Sir."

Caranta became even weaker because of what she heard.

"C-Clea… I don't know how to handle the pain…"

"I understand. But you need to be strong to also influence Sir Kanyard. He doesn't want to be seen as weak, but I'm sure he needs you. Go to his room."

"Clea, doesn't he intend to come here to Crisel's wake?"

Clea shook her head. "He's in a lot of pain. I know he really wants to come here, but I know he won't come because it will hurt him too much."

"I see. I will go to him. Thanks for explaining his side."

Caranta was about to go upstairs, but Kelian stopped her.

"Uhm, Caranta, are you going to Kanyard? Please, make him drink this capsule. It's his medicine. And please, take care of him."

"Yes, ma'am."

Kelian hugged her. "Thanks for being kind."

She slowly approached Kanyard's room. She knocked on the door.

"Come in."

She bowed when she entered the room.

"Sir, your aunt told me to give you this capsule." She handed him the tissue containing the capsule inside.

"Thanks."

She looked out the window.

He raised a brow, "Why haven't you left yet?"

"Uhm… Sir…"

"Yes?"

She felt even more pity for him because there was no trace of sadness on his face. But she could clearly see the sadness in his eyes.

"I understand how you feel, sir. If you want to talk about anything, I'm here. Sir, I am ready to listen to you."

"Do you think I need help? What's your basis?"

"I'm sorry, sir. It's not that I'm invalidating your belief. Sorry…"

He raised a brow. "I'm going to my company. Come with me."

"Yes, sir."

Caranta has already dressed in formal clothes. When she got out of the door, Bakir stopped her.

"Hey, why are you wearing a black cap?" He asked.

"Sir Bakir, I'm used to wearing a cap."

He snobbed at her, "Hey, bring all these bags!"

"Y-yes, sir." She answered happily as she accepted the heavy bags.

3 minutes later.

While they were on the trip, they were quiet.

She could clearly see Kanyard in the interior mirror, who was very serious and showed no emotion.

She couldn't help but be amazed by him because he was wearing a red formal suit that suited him.

20 minutes later.

Caranta was about to get out of the car, but she couldn't get off because when she lifted a big bag, the crotch point of her pants was torn.

"Hey, hurry down! Sir Kanyard needs those things!" Bakir shouted.

"Yes, Sir!"

She was shocked when Kanyard opened the door. "Caranta, what happened?"

"The crotch point of my pants was torn, s-sir."

"I see." He got into the car. He sided with Caranta. He opened a bag. He picked up pink trousers. He handed it to her. "You have a belt, right? This pink trousers will fit you because I used this 10 years ago."

"Thanks, Sir."

"I'm going down. Just look for my office."

"Yes, sir! Thanks again."

"Hey!" Bakir shouted.

"Yes, sir? I'm going down. Sorry."

He sighed, "Do you want to know why sir came to work today?"
