ONE YEAR LATER, Winter 2017

Outside snow, resembling milky quartz had started to shower upon the land and piled up. Albert could hear the cold swooping of the wind as he stood close to the windowpanes. His eyes were gazing at the lake. The lake has existed since the 12th century, made by a member of the Old Gregory House. After Albert took over the family, he built the Elder Tower next to the lake. He then named it Lake Elisabeth after his dear wife. In Spring, it seemed large and brilliantly blue. But in Winter, God had painted the frozen lake in chalky white. Albert found this land, covered in a blanket of crystals, and the trees, sprinkled with diamond dust, were wondrous. The scene that laid before him was beautiful indeed, but regrettably, somehow, it felt lonely.

'Winter blues.'
