The Dawning of a New World part 3

Arthur stood in the fresh morning air, the sun just beginning to rise over the horizon. He breathed in the crisp morning air, feeling the anticipation of his mission ahead. He had been travelling for days now, searching for the truth of the forbidden empire.

He had packed up his camp from the night before and was ready to continue his journey. He grabbed his bag and began walking into the horizon, the sun slowly rising alongside him.

As he walked, he felt a strange sense of mystery in the air. He was getting closer to discovering the secrets of the forbidden empire, and he could feel it. He quickened his pace, the anticipation of uncovering the truth only growing stronger with every step.

The sun was higher in the sky now, and the landscape around him was becoming more and more enchanting. He felt as though he was being guided on a journey to uncover something greater than himself. He could feel the mysterious energy of the forbidden empire all around him.

It was as though he was surrounded by a magical aura, the secrets of the past waiting to be revealed. He kept walking, feeling a strange sense of excitement in his heart. He was getting closer to uncovering the truth.

Finally, after days of travelling, he arrived at the gates of the forbidden empire. He was overwhelmed with emotion as he took in the majestic sight before him. The secrets of the past were now within his reach, and he was ready to uncover them. He took a deep breath and stepped forward into the unknown.

As he walked and walked further he reached the wastelands. After seconds of thought, he continued his journey, with a strange feeling in his stomach.

As Arthur walked through the wastelands his heart sank as he saw the countless skeletons that littered the ground; a reminder of the violence and destruction that had befallen the land. He trudged onwards, his feet growing heavier with each step. His gaze drifted towards the horizon and in the distance, he saw a battlefield, an all too familiar sight. He quickened his pace and soon he was standing in the middle of the carnage. Everywhere he looked he saw corpses, some torn apart by the force of battle, others picked apart by ravens.

Arthur suddenly remembered an article he had read a few years ago when a wave of monsters had broken out and killed countless numbers of soldiers and mercenaries. His heart ached as he thought of the tragedy that had befallen these brave men, and he began to bury as many as he could, a small gesture of respect for the fallen. He worked tirelessly, but soon his strength began to wane, and he could no longer continue. He stood up from the graves and surveyed the battlefield one last time, his heart heavy with grief. He bowed his head in respect for the men who had died for their cause and turned away, leaving the battlefield to the silence of death.

Dark shadows followed him behind the rocks and boulders right before jumping at him and attacking him.

"Hmm... I will fight them with brute strength alone, no skills, no energy just my strength alone", a smile flew over his face.

Arthur steeled himself for the fight ahead and drew his sword from its sheath. He began to march forward, slashing and stabbing his way through the wave of monsters that stood in his way. He could feel the power of the blade coursing through him as he fought, and he knew that he could not be stopped. Despite the monsters' strength, Arthur was too determined to not give ud and his skill and strength allowed him to overwhelm them.

*level up* Arthur reached level 34 raising all his stats by 1, his strength, speed, agility and defence were rasied by 3, which made it easier for him to overhelm them.

He continued to fight his way forward, pushing back the monsters that threatened to overwhelm him through numbers. He could feel the power of flames flowing through him, giving him the strength he needed to fight on. He was exhausted, but he refused to give up, and eventually, the monsters began to thin out. After finishing off all the monsters a system notice popped up telling him that he just reached level 35.

"Congratulations Arthur! You've reached level 35! You've unlocked the shop function of the system, allowing you to purchase all kinds of items, upgrades without any information about them and skills! You can even level up or evolve the skills you buy! Wow, this is amazing! You must be so excited!" The system shouted, surprising Arthur.

"Open shop!", he exclaimed full of curiosity as to what the shop had available. Arthur opened the system's shop function, and an endless list of items appeared before his eyes. He felt a sudden, painful sensation in his head as he took in the sheer amount of choices. He quickly realized that he had been overwhelmed by the sheer number of items but it yielded soon after.

There were sections like Items, skills, packages, upgrades, and surprise boxes. "Open skill section! I need fire skills", and it opened all available skills.

"Fire Strike 100 points, Fire Wheel 300 points, Fire Shield 200 points, Fire Wall 150 points, Fire Wave 700 points, Fire Pillar 1000 points, Flame Dance 600 points, Hell Fire 2000 points,..." and many more. "Wow... my current balance is 500 points... Hey, system! How can I get more points?"

A window showed up with a few options:

Complete quests and missions.

Complete daily challenges.

Sell items.

Craft items and sell them.

Complete achievements to gain points.

Level up.

"What about the points I accumulated till now without the mission?", Arthur asked the system. "250 points but don't spend them all because once you don't have any you will die!"

"Hmm... my current point balance is 500+250 points, so in total 750 points... but it doesn't seem to be a lot.."

Arthur started by carefully reading each skill description in order, taking his time to understand the details of each one before moving on to the next one. He read the descriptions slowly and carefully, making sure he had a full understanding of each one. He took notes on each skill, jotting down questions as they came to him, and then used those notes to help him decide which skills he wanted to pursue further.

Fire Strike: A powerful basic technique that uses a flurry of punches and kicks to create a physical wall of fire around the user. When a sword is used the damage increases and once the skill is used everything that is touched will ignite in flames.

Fire Shield: A defensive move that creates a physical shield of fire to protect the user from attacks.

Fire Wave: A powerful wave of fire that can be used to attack multiple opponents from a distance.

Ignite: A short-range attack that creates an explosion of fire around the user.

Fire Pillar: A technique that creates a pillar of fire that can be used to protect the user or attack opponents, under a certain level you can suppress your enemies.

Flame Dance: An acrobatic technique that allows the user to move and attack using a combination of fire and dance moves, its movements are hard to figure out and a sword of flames will be created.

Hellfire: A powerful attack that creates a large wave of fire that can be used to incinerate multiple opponents. It is barely extinguishable.

...

"Which one should I buy because all of them seem to be good... argh! I can't decide! Ohh... what do we have here I think I will buy Flame Dance and Fire Strike."

Right after Arthur spoke these words he felt a sudden, sharp pain in his head, like a hot needle piercing through his skull. Arthur fell to the ground grasping his head, "ARGHH!!" Arthur's scream echoed in the air, piercing the silence around him, so much that it would send chills down anybodies spine. "W-what is happening inside my head! I CAN'T BEAR IT ANYMORE!!" He thought to himself not beeing able to process what exactly is happening.

He winced, feeling the knowledge of the two skills, Flame Dance and Fire Strike, being infused into his mind. Yet, as quickly as the pain had come, it disappeared, leaving him with a newfound understanding of the skills he had just purchased. He felt energized and eager to use these new abilities.

Arthur stepped up, eager to try out his new skills. He raised his arms, concentrating on the knowledge he had just acquired. He felt a surge of energy as the Flame Dance skill activated, sending out a wave of heat that caused his surroundings to burst into flames. He then shifted his concentration, focusing on the Fire Strike skill and immediately felt a powerful force emanating from his hands. He thrust his hands forward and a powerful blast of fire erupted from his palms and slammed into a boulder, reducing it to smouldering ashes.

Arthur smiled in satisfaction. He had just mastered two powerful skills in a matter of minutes! With these skills, he would be able to take on even more powerful foes, still, he needs to hone his skills. He couldn't wait to try out his new abilities in battle. Will an opportunity come soon enough?
